Synopsis The story of Joey Pigza, a seriously hyperactive boy who has been living with his grandmother since being abandoned by both his mother and father. When Joey's mother returns, Joey must find a way to let her back into his life while also dealing with more and more problems at school. Although he's on medication to control his behavior, Joey still has problems paying attention, sitting still, and generally keeping out of trouble. His frustrated mother and teachers attempt to cure Joey's problems by enrolling him at a new school.
To the constant disappointment of his mother and his teachers, Joey has trouble paying attention or controlling his mood swings when his prescription medications wear off and he starts getting worked up and acting wired.
