This really kicks your butt! The workout really works everything and is very simple, however for someone out of shape, it can be a bit of a struggle (like me). I like that I don't have to have anything fancy or learn any routines, it's all simple but very effective movements which will work you to whatever level you are. This workout is geared for the beginner all the way to the fit. I don't know if you can lose 20 pounds in 30 days, but I know the exercise is very effective. Cardio and weights all in one, if you have hand weights and a DVD player, you are good to go!

It will kick your butt into gear, but it is well worth it. It has 3 levels so there is no excuse for not doing it! Just keep the hand weights light in the beginning and get shredding!

I am at a medium fitness level - walk/run 4X a week, cycle, lift weights...this workout left me sweaty, breathing hard, and sore for 2 days! I didn't think that 20 minutes (plus a few minutes for stretching/cooldown) could do this much, but the way Jillian combines large muscle groups with small ones keeps your heart rate up so you are getting great cardio while you are strength training. Plus, you are not working out for an hour, but you will feel like you did! I also like the different options she gives for making the exercise easier or harder depending on your fitness level, and the 3 separate workouts at 3 different levels (for a total of 3 full 20 min. workouts). You get the trademark hard core Jillian encouragement that will keep you going even if you want to stop. Overall, a great video and worth much more than what it cost!

I love this DVD. Level 1 killed me. I was sore for 4 days, but little by little, I got stronger and was able to work up to the harder versions of the exercises. (They have two girls, each doing a different intensity) It took me a month to move on to level 2, and same thing - I thought I was going to die! But, little by little, I was able to do more. Now, I'm on level 3 and loving it. Sometimes I go back to a lower level-hoping for a bit of an "easier" workout. Nope, still kicks my butt!
I dont usually sweat, but I am positively dripping when I do these workouts. The great thing is, no matter how hard an exercise is, the absolute longest you will have to do it is one minute.
There are 3 levels, and 3 circuits in each level. Each circuit has 3 intervals: strength (3 minutes), cardio (2 minutes) and abs (1 minute). Strength will do one exercise for 30 seconds, then another for 1 minute, then repeat. On to cardio where you do one exercise for 30 seconds, and then a different one for another 30 seconds and repeat. Abs has two exercises, each is 30 seconds.
I love that I can get a workout in and only spend 20 minutes of my busy day doing it.
Does it really work? Well, will you really work? With diet (cutting out a lot of sugar and refined carbs, eating lots of vegetables and lean meats, drinking tons of water) and this exercise program, I have lost 20 pounds in 3 months. My muscles are toned and after 4 kids, I'm finally getting a 6 pack!
It works for me!

I've owned this DVD for a couple weeks now and so far I am very satisfied. I have never been an exerciser but have about 6 months to get in shape for my beach wedding! I've been 50+ lbs overweight most of my adult life so figured a former "Biggest Loser" trainer would be good for me (though I don't watch the show). I tried out the first phase of the workout as a preview on the Exercise On Demand that comes with my digital cable program and found it challenging (I was huffing and sweating!) but manageable (I can actually DO all the moves - which is not always the case for me with most exercise programs). Since I ordered and received the DVD, I have followed the first phase about 4 times now (I'm doing it every other day until I feel I can handle 4-5x per week). I actually look forward to the time to do it, though I know it will be tough! I got some 2 lb handweights to use with it and they're perfect. Jillian is a great workout leader, she doesn't have an annoying voice or move weird and she explains how to each move and is sure to point out how not to do it to avoid injury. The two chicks behind her are helpful to watch as well, especially since one is doing a modified (aka easier) version of many of the exercises so begineers don't get too overwhelmed. I feel like I have (FINALLY!) found an exercise program that I can stick with and not dread to the point that I give it up after a couple of days! I also love her system of alternating fairly short bursts of strength training, cardio, and ab workouts so that you don't do one type so long you think you're going die. I find her timing perfect, just as I begin to think I'm not sure I could do much more, it's time to switch. I also appreciate that there are 3 workouts on the DVD with varying intensity, but each one is complete on its own. So I will continue to do level 1 until I find it "easy" (hard to imagine now!) and then will move on to 2, then 3. I look forward to it! I would highly recommend this DVD to anyone who is trying to get started on a regular workout/exercise program at home. I found the DVD for around $10 on Ebay and only had to get the handweights to accompany it, and can get out of breath and sweaty in the privacy of my home without the time and expense of going to a gym and hiring a trainer.

OMG!!!! what a dvd. I used to work out everyday and train twice a week but fell out of it for about a year, so I thought I would have no trouble with level 1. This dvd kicked my butt!!!!!! 20 minutes of pure torture. I was sweating 5 minutes into it. I can not wait to get used to level 1 and move on to level 2 and 3. I am hoping it will only take a few weeks to get to higher levels. I have tried it only once so far and found it easy to follow, no difficult moves, but VERY demanding. Hope this dvd works as I have gained 23 pounds and want it off quickly.

I do love this workout!! I actually do this on top of another exercise DVD.
I work out for 45 minutes and then do this right after...
It's tough but STICK WITH IT....You will notice after one week what endurance your body can really have!!
Jillian keeps saying that nothing comes for free!! That is true...NEVER GIVE UP...It's really only tough at the very beginning...Once you notice that you can keep up with the DVD after one week you will be so amazed and so energized to keep going...
Best DVD!!! DEDICATION is the key.....It's worth it and never give up...work on it every day...You'll be amazed...

I am an avid "at-home-gymer" and am always looking for new and HARD workouts. I don't like wasting my time on the easy one that don't get results. I bought this one because I like Jillian from the show and thought she'd challenge me. I just did this workout this morning and am happy that I bought it. It has 3 sections/levels that are each 20 minutes long. I tried the first level thinking it would probably be too easy, but I was pleasantly surprised when sweat was rolling off me!!! I had some more time so I moved on to level 2 and was happy with this workout as well. I think this is a great video for those days when you don't have a lot of time but still want a good workout. It is fast-paced, easy to follow, and makes you feel like you did something when finished. The moves in each level are different so you could do all three at once if you really wanted a challenge. I wouldn't use this video as my only workout because I need something a bit more challenging but it is a GREAT addition to my workout videos!

It seriously kicks your butt. I lost 1 1/2 inches and 3 pounds in the first 7 days.

( I am also dieting)

My endurance is higher, and the first couple of days were hard and the days after were worse, but I am so much better for it.

If you are looking for a killer workout that will work your whole body in 20 min. this is it. I feel so much stronger and more fit than I have in years. I love the fact that it doesn't require a lot of equipment or lots of complicated moves. Jillian provides modifications for beginners. I love the results I'm seeing from this workout!

Great workout. I am not in great shape, but I have a hard time finding a workout DVD that makes me work hard, but still want to finish the workout. Either they are too easy and no real workout or they are so hard to follow I just spend time tripping over my feet.

This is easy to follow and kicks your butt! Love it.
There are 3 levels so there is something for everyone.
I recommend it.

I love Jillian Michaels 30 day shred. This product was recommended to me by a friend. I'm typically a person who enjoys doing out door exercising such as bike riding, walking, and kayaking. I also enjoy swimming and dancing but do not always make it to the pool or studio. I bought this because I didn't want to neglect exercise due to weather or a busy schedule. I also like the privacy of working out in my own home. I've been very pleased with Michaels' ability to come up with 20 minute workouts that actually work. I've been pretty loyal working out most every day and I've lost about 8 lbs in 30 days and gained muscle without changing my eating habits. I look more trim and feel healthier. Also having three levels really helped me work in to my potential and stick with the program. It's nice to have goals to make it to the next level and notice changes in my strength and endurance. Although there are days that I do not want to work out, it is amazing to know that you don't need to spend that much time to see results and feel healthy. I would recommend this product to anyone who has enough willpower to stick with a program because you will se results if you are faithful.

One of the things Jillian says through out the video is that if she's giving you a workout that's only 20 minutes, it's going to be tough.

This workout wasn't tough to do as far as learning the moves, but I was breathing heavy! It's awesome. Throughout the whole thing I just kept thinking that I was going to take this 20 minutes to kill myself (with proper form and water) and then it would be done. It's only 20 minutes.

I do recommend stretching on your own afterwards. She doesn't give too much time to that and you will hurt if you don't take another few minutes to stretch. I do yoga after and that helps!

This is definitely a tough workout, you have to push yourself. She uses her 3-2-1 system, 3 minute strenght, 2 min cardio, and 1 min abs, doing 2 rounds each session, then it's over, only 20 minutes/workout...short but intense. There's 3 levels on the DVD, you can either do each level for 10 days, or you can move up a level once you're it gets too easier (yeah right!). Also, she's got 2 girls working out with her (ok, she doesn't workout much, she's usually walking around talking) are totally ripped, but you can follow either Anita, who does the beginner exercises, or Natalie, who does the advanced. I do highly recommend this DVD, I'm only on level 2, but I've lost weight and inches!

I do Yoga every other day and walk or hike to stay in shape. But I had been looking for something upbeat and fast to add to my exercise regime. I had seen good reviews of this video from other folks and decided to give it a try. (Got a great deal on the DVD too!) I received the video in the mail today and went through the Level 1 workout. Whew. Even though I consider myself in shape, this definitely got my heart pumping and muscles burning. Jillian was instructive and came across as tough which is just what I was hoping for. (Big difference from the calm meditative aspect of Yoga!) All in all, it was a fantastic 20 minute workout. I felt a lot of my muscle groups had been worked. I'm really looking forward to the Level 2 and 3 workouts. I have a feeling this is the exact type of variety I needed to add to keep myself dedicated to exercise and well being.

After watching the show, I decided to buy this DVD and I absolutely love it! Jillian lives up to her name of being the toughest trainer, and you can definitely feel the work after the workout and the next day! I can't wait to see myself in 30 days!

I enjoyed the intensity of the workout. I didn't see anywhere on the dvd or on the film how often I should be doing the workout. I tried to do it at least 3 times a week. I am in good shape (I think) and am 50 years old, not overweight,but the workout really affected my knees. I haven't done any other workout tapes, just hiking and treadmill and basic circuit training. I think it was just one exercise on the tape that bothered my knees, so I have gone to just doing the other workouts and skipping the one that bothered my knees, and they are ok now.

She's talking to you like she was in the same room with you, telling you not go give up even though you may feel like it, acknowledging she knows it's hard, but how worth it, it will be if you keep with it. She also points out if you'd rather forgo hours at the gym you have to give everything you have in the twenty minutes of video, because "it" doesn't come for free. I love her - video is challenging, but not impossible. Worth every penny and I've tried SEVERAL workout DVDs, nothing compares.

This DVD is Awesome. It's great for getting back into a workout routine or to add to a regular workout if you've hit a plateau. I like how it's only 20 mins long for each level. There are 3 levels in total. You can easily fit in 20 minutes each day and see some results if you have a fairly good diet. It is based on strength, cardio and abs. It's an overall good workout in a fairly short amount of time. There are some days I feel that I want more so I continue and do another level. You can definitely feel your muscles working and may feel sore the next day. Time goes by fast and you are done before you know it. She varies the workout so it's not boring and it's like circuit training. You don't have time to rest so you stress your body to see fast results. Would recommend it as a startup or in addition to a workout! Get it and get fit! =)

This is a low budget DVD. Also it's very low-impact. You read "30 day shred" and think she's going to tell me how to lose a bundle of weight in 30 days. Under "Menu" there is a recommendation section where she writes: do the exercises 20 minutes a day, move up the stages as u feel comfortable and go on a diet!" No kidding it's crap, it's the most basic of aerobics tapes. I regret buying it.
