I LOVE THE DETAIL OF THIS VESION OF THIS MOVIE. ALL THE NEW ONES OUT TODAY ARE SO DIFFERENT FROM THE ONE I GREW UP WITH, I JUST HAD TO HAVE IT. THANK YOU VERY MUCH, I AM PLEASED TO OWN IT MYSELF.

I had this movie on VHS and loved it then; purchased it from Columbia House and it skipped; so to re-added it my collection, I bought it from Ebay. Haven't played it yet, but I am sure it's fine. When it's not a holy week, movies of this caliber is a fraction of the price, but because it's holy week the prices are quite high.

Jesus portrayed by Robert Powell, when he did the movie was age 33 and was right for the part; he could have been Jesus, he knew his scripture forward as well as probably backward; he's the best portrayer of Jesus.
The cast had many actors that I didn't know were Christians in real life as Ernest Borgnine & Christopher Plummer, just to name two. I am sure there were more. It's like these actors were picked one by one for the part they played and did an excellent job, too.

There wasn't anything I didn't like about the movie and I am glad that I purchased it!

This film which stars many that we all know introduced a new person on the scene, Robert Powell. Unknown in his own right, Mr. Powell, finds that he is faced with a delimma.Another actor could have done the job, but they all refused.Robert Powell, knew that to portray Christ in a film, would end his acting career. A performance of a life time, as he put it. Robert Powell, portrays Christ in the last section of the ministry, from being baptized by John in the Jordan to the cruxifiction. A moving story about Christ as a child to adult hood. From baptizmal to cruxification. Not just an Easter story, this is a film, that still moves alot of people who have made the wonderful journey from ungodly to Christ follower.
Filmed in the middle East, and London England and the United States, this is the epic tale of Christ from scriptures. This is to be put on the shelf next to Passion of the christ!
Every film about Christs life is always filled with doubters, and unbelievers, this film is no different. Personally I would like to see someone make a film on the filming of all the movies about Christ. That would be worth while.
I gave this film 5, for the performance of a lifetime by Robert Powell, the scenery and the story from Scriptures.

This version of the life of Christ appears to be the most comprehensive and accurate portrayal of Christ's mortal ministry. Though it does stray from the scriptures occassionally it does remain true to the most important aspects of the scriptural accounts.
Robert Powell performance magnificently in the main roll of Jesus.
This movie will tear at your heart strings as you watch the adversity which Christ suffered on our behalf throughout his mortal life.

What I like about this movie is the accuracy to scripture. I can't think of anything I don't like about it. It may be a few decades old, but classic and quality are ageless. I bought this because I wanted a good copy of this. And a little balance in my DVD collection.

I, like everything about it , there are no dislikes. I, just decided to buy it because I, have seen it before , and wanted it on DVD.

this movie was an all-time favorite of mine since i viewed it on the big screen a a junior high student, in the school auditorum. this movie seems so realistic the viewer gets the feeling they are on the sideline watching and often actually involved. it has the ability to elicit many tears. i can't imagine a better choice of actor than the one chosen to play Jesus. it feels like all the characters have the best choice of actors actually, much thought went into the casting. for a movie where you already know the ending it NEVER gets boring ! i love to watch it several times a year, especially when i feel my own spirit hardening. i had in times past, a vhs version (lost in divorce):( so i was on the look-out for a dvd. e-bay was the answer! add in the fun of bidding and right before Easter i was again on the couch enjoying one of my favorite movies. thank you for the oppurtunity to review it for e-bay. may i highly recommend it for you...enjoy

Robert Powell portrays Jesus Christ like few others can do.

Proof positive that within the film making industry there actually are talented people and scouts constantly looking for prospects.

Robert Powell has done little else and has gone on to live a "normal" life.

This movie lives on as a realistic approach to what Jesus Christ may have been like.

I hate to use the word "compelling" since it's use is being (slopily) thrown around today...but for those Christians who want to feel that spiritual power that one man once had on the masses, get this movie and treasure it forever.

This is the most compelling story of Jesus's life that I have viewed. Even though we know the ending before the story begins, this movie depicts Jesus life very well.

The scope of this film is breath taking. It reverentially captures the complexities, and deep emotions involved in the story of the life of Jesus. Throughout it is wonderfully acted. Its recreation of time and place, and Biblical detail, is truly moving. It is an unforgettable movie, ideal for family viewing, and ideal for teenagers to experience. It is long, but full of glorious scenes depicting essential religious, political, and human struggles. It is a very worthwhile viewing experience for anyone, no matter what their religion.

It's an excellent movie, great cast. Even though the minie series movie was made in 1977 but the DVD is clear and new.

Great Movie The best Jesus movie I have seen. A bit dated but very good acting and Very close to what the bible teaches. Jesus is our savior and I love watching this movie over and over. Please watch this if you do not know anything about the bible you will not regret it. God Bless America!

Boutht this for my 10 year old, he loves it and can understand it. I wanted him to visually see a movie that is accurate and can be understood easily. This is a long but great movie.

I had seen the series when I was young. The accuracy of events is excellent and all the performances of actors very good. I love the movie.

If you believe Jesus of Nazareth is the Messiah, then Jesus of Nazareth serves as a form of meditation and renewal of one's spiritual connection to God. But if you don't view Jesus in this way, no other film will leave you in such awe of the profound influence promulgated by a humble, sandal-clan man from a province on the outskirts of mighty Rome - an influence that has completely dominated the world for almost two thousand years to the present day.

For spiritual, philosophical, and cinematic reasons, Jesus of Nazareth is a definite must-see film for the ages…

This is a Great movie that is accurate and wonderful to watch! I'm so glad that it was made and offered as my family have enjoyed it. One of the best made films on Jesus to date in my opinion!

I have always loved this movie. It follows with the Bible. I saw it on TV and decided to look on Ebay to see if it would be here. I found it and have already watched part of it.

When I first saw this movie back in the 70's on TV, I was in awe, and it has become one of my all time favorites for the Christmas and Easter holidays. The acting is so well done. There is a mix of well known and not so well known actors that seem to amazingly blend together. Powell does an excellent job of portraying Jesus as the main character. He has a strong presence in the film, but yet does not overly dominate it or the story. I've seen movies with other actors portraying Jesus, but none have done half as well as Powell (well, maybe with the exception of James Caviezel in Passion of the Christ). There is a certain "charisma" about the way Powell performs this part. But, when you have a cast like James Earl Jones, Sir Laurence Olivier, Rod Stieger, Michael York, Anne Bancroft, Olivia Hussey, and Anthony Quinn, you can't go wrong. These actors added depth and humanity to the roles of the saints, sinners, and the ordinary people who walked in the footsteps of the Lord. This movie is not too graphic by today's standards, and is an excellent and educational family movie. I am so glad this movie is finally on DVD so I can watch it commercial free and can toss out my VHS tape which I used to copy from the TV.

This is the best film made on the life of Jesus. I believe it is inspired. Very much enables those that watch to see the context of the culture and political scene and the religious world of the Jews and their reactions to Jesus. Excellent. I have seen this film for the last twenty or mores years almost once a year or sometimes more.

I love this movie. It was very easy to understand, even for my teenage son. We made 3 movie nights about this because it is over 6 hours long! So we split it in 2 hours per evening. Very inspirational and made me appreciate my faith in our Lord.
