Jesus Listens to Me Review by Melanie, Campbell Studio

I was first drawn to this little book by the subject matter. It is a very simple book for young children, that gives them one of their first experiences with God and the Bible. Parents can expand on the thoughts presented and bring in examples of the child's own life, to help them apply the scripture to experiences they have had or will have. Being a former public school teacher and a former Sunday School worker, I know that teaching young children in a low key way about who God is and how they can depend on Him, is the best for their young minds. This book gives that low key approach, with a little thought on each page that the child can absorb. As they grow, they will be able to understand more about each thought presented. I can see how this book will make a lasting impact on their lives. Also being an artist, I love the illustrations. They remind me of Beatrix Potter's drawings. I think the melding of nature, and scripture enhances the child's interest in the concepts presented. Children love animals, and these illustrations do a good job of presenting innocent, gentle animals and other creatures to help develop a child's understanding of these sometimes difficult concepts. I can see how parents and children would return to this book over and over again.
