If you don't like it - you just don't understand.Imagine a world without iPods and MP3s and Napster - not even MTV!!! An Orwellian nightmare where the only exposure you had to new music was Casey Kasem or the latest movie soundtrack (I was in a car that stopped and bought Axel-F on the way home from Beverly Hills Cop!) Then, out of the fog and from accross the pond a friend timidly passes you a record (now known as LPs or vinyl) w/ little cherubs perched atop of it - and your world is never the same. Words such as alternative, techno, emo, house, etc. hadn't even been coined, they're years off. You stay in your room - yeah, that's right, you have a few months to wait for the Walkman or at least until it becomes affordable enough - and dance wildly, thrash like a punk, emote to one of the coolest people to ever live - Robert Smith. And don't even get me started on the first time I saw the video for 'Let's Go To Bed' on USA's Up All Night.
