Japanese Candlestick Charting Tecniques by Steve Nison (2001, Hardcover, Illustrated)

This is the most effective learning tool I have found, and I have spent thousands of dollars on trading learning tools. Don't get me wrong. There is no Holy Grail. You will have to study hard, read the WHOLE book and make many, many practice trades. But the material makes sense and the markets do behave the way Nison describes. There is a simplicity here that makes trading more enjoyable, as well as more profitable.
Anyone can describe a candle pattern, but Nison gives you an understanding of the condition of the market that underlies each formation. You will learn when a particular candle should be followed and when it should be ignored.

This is a must for one studying technical analysis. Its currently one of the required readings for the cmt level 2 exam. The book looks great from the outside with its sharp looking cover. Candlestick delves into market psychology which makes this analysis intriguing. Great book.

Book provides details on a wide variety of candlestick patterns. Such details are why these patterns occur, how do they form, what opportunities they carry, how powerful or reliable they are, etc. Very clear definitions and explanations.
