The first Jackson Browne

The actual title of this album is just "Jackson Browne". The original artwork is the cover you can see screenprinted onto a canvas desert water bag. These bags have "saturate before using" printed on the top of them, that's how they come, it is not the title and as far as I know, has no significance.I bought this CD to replace my completely worn out vinyl (yes kids, vinyl) version I had kept since about '73. It features "take it easy" which the Eagles picked up from this young songwriter and made into a radio hit. You've heard it a million times, you can listen to it again or skip to some of the real gems you've either never heard or have forgotten about, like Rock Me On The Water or Doctor My Eyes, a bit up-tempo with great session guitar solo from Jesse Ed Davis. Other songs are quiet and sentimental, all are excellent. There really isn't a cut that doesn't belong and isn't great. Listen for understated harmonies from David Crosby and a complementary "counter song" on From Silver Lake by Leah Kunkel, wife of Russ (bass) and sister of "Mama" Cass Elliott. My favorites are the most sentimental, and I can hit the replay button with ease for From Silver Lake or Looking Into you.
This is the album that launched a brilliant career and is well worth owning.
