Ideas and inspiration for wearable art
Two books by the same author, showing development & elaboration of fabric manipulation and embellishment techniques. Not for the novice seamster; assumes basic knowledge of machine sewing. Well-organized, complete step-by-step directions take you through each process (including shopping lists & recommended tools) & project. Mixing or substituting techniques is encouraged, along with guidelines for doing so. The author's color taste is not my own; she does include photos of projects by others to show optional approaches, and encourages readers to make their own choices. There are even small projects for using up the scraps! If I ever get the chance to take a class from the author, I'm sure I'd enjoy it: she obviously enjoys sewing, sharing, & learning from her students as well as teaching them.
(Next time I buy a used book which is supposed to include patterns, I'll ask whether ALL of the pattern pieces are there.)
