Synopsis Fourteen-year-old Hector, suffering from severe headaches, is diagnosed with a brain tumor which speaks in his head, calling itself Jack Tumor and making an effort to improve Hector's home life, increase his popularity, and win him a girlfriend before the operation that will mean the end of one or both of them.
Shy and nerdy, 14-year-old Hector is used to being bullied and can't bring himself to talk to his crushes. But when Jack Tumor, the suddenly chatty cancer lodged in his brain, takes over, Hector's life changes completely. Gone are the lame clothes and wallflower ways as Hector follows Jack's advice, not always willingly. Hector's life changes for the better, but he also finds himself treading on some dubious moral ground. Hilarious, filthy, and honest, this novel is refreshingly different from the usual young adult cancer fare.

Publisher's Note Fourteen-year-old Hector, suffering from severe headaches, is diagnosed with a brain tumor which speaks in his head, calling itself Jack Tumor and making an effort to improve Hector's home life, increase his popularity, and win him a girlfriend before the operation that will mean the end of one or both of them.
Industry Reviews "The push-me-pull-you nature of their relationship coupled with Hector's own lascivious fantasy digressions make for completely inappropriate and profoundly smart hilarity, while the urgency of Jack's quest for genetic propagation shades the fun with a carefully unarticulated layer of dread."
