  Great book
Review created: 11/06/09

Great book.as James Patterson is a great writer of horror novels.

The book begins at night, with a man calling himself Sam Harrison, wearing a disguise and stalking United States Senator Daniel Fitzpatrick. Sam plans on killing the senator, and has been planning this for quite some time. The Senator has just gone into a bar with a young woman. Sam is very sharply dressed, to blend in the bar. After a few minutes he strolls into the bar and waits. Soon he goes upstairs to the Senator's flat. The young woman answers the door. "Jack" she says. "Jill" he replies back.

In another part of Washington DC, another killer was hiding in a "tent" among an area of thick pines. He is also putting on a disguise, but his is like a homeless person. He walks toward a poor neighborhood and blows up a balloon and waits for a kid to show up. A little six year old black girl approaches him. As he goes to give her the balloon he takes out a baseball bat that he was hiding behind his back and starts swinging at her.

BACK OF BOOK SAYS:

SOMEONE KILLS ONE OF THE MOST POWERFUL MEN IN THE U.S. SENATE AND THE WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING.S OMEONE MURDER A SMALL BLACK GIRL ON THE MEAN STREETS OF WASHINGTON AND ON ONE SEEMS TO CARE. but only d.c. homicide cop alex cross suspects that the evil striking down both the high and low wears the same shocking face. now in his most terrifying case, cross must stop a deadly force before it destroys the very foundation of this nation.

i didn't care for the child murders.
however i kept waiting for gary to show up.

he always reveals one killer semi towards the end, but holds the last one until the very end. i would have liked a little more explaination, but it was still good.
i recommend the audio it's cool, sounds like sam spade.

wondering what will happen with the principal.
was always wondering what was up with the husband if he was going to turn out to be a bad guy, but didn't.

Not his best...but still good enough for a casual read

Patterson is usually a pretty above average read, but this book just lacked the suspense I look for. He really didn't need to throw in a second serial killer, with a stupid storyline that just didn't develop or fit into the main plot.

If you are new to Patterson and want to read some good Alex Cross, I would recommend starting out with Cross or Four Blind Mice. Mary Mary was a good read too.

I think that Jack & Jill is one of the best Alex Cross novels that James Patterson has written to date. I really loved the simultaneous and equally complex mysteries in the story that will instantly hook you.

James Patterson is one of my favorite authors, I have read all of his books, And my only complaint is that he doesnt write fast enough, I need at least one new book every week :O)
I wont divulge any plots of the book because if you are like me you dont wont to know the plots until you reach them in the book.
But I do highly recomend this book.
