  Finally...Honesty!!!

In a world where so muck speech and actions are totally contrived, i must say that Lance breaks through the ordinary and delivers powerful literature whose biggest adjective is: honesty! As a fellow cancer patient, this book has touched me on many levels. If you or anyone you know has been touched by cancer, i think this book will satisfy you exponentially.

I am a triathlete and have followed the tour de france for years now. i've always been interested in lance armstrongs livestrong foundation and his story about how he came back from cancer. This was an excellent story and it showed me how much he changed after his battle with cancer. It was a great book and i recommend it to everyone!

I absolutely loved this book and never wanted to put it down. Still took me three days to read but it was such an insight into his history and his life. I have been a fan of Lance for a number of years but there is so much that people do not know. This story shows his struggle to survive and his competitive nature.

Truly inspiring.

Must read for anyone facing adversity
Review created: 06/03/08

I had bought this book while recovering from chemotherapy treatments. I didn't get in divorce so I had to have for my library. No matter what you think of cycling, or Lance Armstrong, this book helps you to see what you have to do when facing adversity; face it head on. It also helps you to see behind the personality at what shaped him so he could become a champion. This book should be read whether facing a health issue or just a major crisis.

I like lance armstrong and I am currently a runner and triathlete. I was looking for some inspiration for running as I run in college and staying motivated can be tough. I really like this book it was a good book and thats saying alot considering I dont like to read books. I like the fact that lance tells all about his battles during this tough time in his life. Also liked the pictures he included in the book. I really had no dislike of this book I would recomend it to anyone espcially people who are sports fans its a true tail of how a man was working his way to the top then everything was taken from him and he bounced bake even stroger. Awesome book loved it.

  Bikes and Lance Armstrong
Review created: 02/08/08
by:

I have yet to begin reading this book, but I can appreciate how Lance has handled the challenges in his own life. As a avvid cyclist enthusiast myself I take much satisfaction in a lengthy bike ride to recuperate from life challenges, but life does indeed have so much more than centering life around cycling.

  Life Before the Label
Review created: 04/07/07

What is great about this book is you do not have to be a cycling fan to enjoy it. This is more of the unbelievable story of someone overcoming life threatening cancer and once again winning the Tour de France. As I was reading this I could feel his pain and felt the joy as he overcame it and once again began riding. I recommend this book to everyone, and next time you hit an obstacle along the way, just remember: Never give up.

  Cancer survivors
Review created: 04/02/07
by:
kab1986 ( 5 )

This is a great book for anyone who has cancer or a loved one with the disease. This book truly is "not about the bike". It's about surviving & making goals & dreams for yourself as you deal with your cancer diagnosis & treatment. It is about having very little chance of surviving but fighting for the chance you do have. I'm so glad to find these books at a discount as I give them to people when I hear of their cancer battle. Being a survivor, myself, I found such comfort & related to many things Lance wrote of that no one I knew personally would say to me. A must read for everyone! Cancer or no cancer!

  Surprisingly good
Review created: 03/04/07

As a runner, I was a bit hesitant to commit to Lance's autobiography. After all, runners and bikers are not always the best of friends. Still, the way he goes about telling the story grips even the most non-athletic readers.

Starting with the discovery of his cancer, then backtracking to his youth, he brings the story full circle with the retelling of his hard-fought Tour victory just a year after finishing treatment.

It's inspiring, refreshing and a quick read.
