I wanted to find out about "Ishi",how he and his people lived and where and how they lived. It's a great eye opening window into the not so distant past. This is a great book, easy to follow and understand.
I live in the west side of the valley, & I see those hills, mountains and creeks they called home everyday. We hunt deer every year in "Ishi's" home land, so this year after our hunting trip, I bought as many books as I could find on "Ishi". This is the first book I have read and I really have enjoy it. It does make me ashamed of our "white" people and the way we messed up the "Yahi Indian World". The Yahi for hundreds of years knew how to live with the land without destroying it.
If you would like some insight into the Yahi Indians & Ishi you will love this book. It has answered a lot of my questions and more.
