Movie Description
Based on the classic stories of Somerville and Ross, this lushly photographed Masterpiece Theatre series follows the entertaining adventures of Major Sinclair Yates (Peter Bowles), a retired English army officer appointed Resident Magistrate for West Ireland in the days before Irish independence. Comic situations arise from the misunderstandings between the English and Irish, as well as from Yates's attempts to become familiar with--and keep order amongst--the eccentric townspeople. All 18 episodes of the charming and popular show are collected here.
