Book by Shirin Ebadi (2006) IRAN AWAKENING
Review created: 02/09/09

Two years ago I purchased a copy of this book. I read and enjoyed it a lot and then sold it on eBay so someone else could be more informed about a country that is not exactly a friend of our own country, at present. But I know personally an older couple who live in Iran and their daughter who has lived in the U.S. since she was in eighth grade; she is now in her early forties, married and with two children. The last time I saw her I asked if she had read this book. Her response was NO, but she'd like to read it. I bought the book expressly for her. The book was exactly as described in the listing and I was pleased with the condition of the book, the price, the shipping charges etc. This book, though now over two years old, offers a lot of insight into the conditions, for women particularly, in Iran. It is an excellent read and I'd recommend it highly for anyone interested in learning more about the people in this country, who long for freedom of movement, freedom of commerce, and personal freedom that is currently denied the general population. There was really nothing to dislike about the book, its contents or the person relating her experiences.

  The Truth about Iran
Review created: 05/05/08
by:

Shirin Ebadi won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2003 for her lifetime of championing the rights of women and children in a country whose courts and administration routinely routinely twists the tenets of their own laws to further their oppressive agenda.

This is a riveting account of Dr. Ebadi's indomitable courage in remaining in Iran and advocating for human rights in spite of imprisonment and real danger to her life.

This book reveals the real role the U. S. has played in attacks on Iran. It also shows that the majority of Iranians do not support the repressive policies of the current regime and the importance of allowing the Iranian people to solve their own dilemmas without interference from the U. S.

If you want to understand what is truly going on, read this book.
