Ionic Pro COMPACT Air Purifier

I bought 2 of these thinking AHA!! I found a solution to the smoking odor from my husbands vice. Wrong!! While they may work a little on animal dander if you have other allergies or a smoker, these do not work. The time to clean light has never come on and when we do clean them or should I say one (the other one broke)the only thing it catches is dust. Then you have the little wire cleaner that is supposed to go up and down and clean the electrical wires. They might work better if they cleaned the entire wire mechanism and not just the front. We had to devise a hand made cleaner out of a wire coathanger to clean the backside. I do admit that the metal plates do get grungy and do come clean, BUT then you have to put up with crackling and hissing and all kinds of noise and this tells you that the wires are not cleaned, so we start all over again. The large one will catch the dirt and dust particles in a very small room, forget anything larger and again forget pollen allergies, asthma or smoke!! I even tried it in a car. Again it does not work. I wasted almost 400$ on these and I still sneeze, eyes tear, and everything else that goes along with summer allergies. There is an old saying You get what you pay for but I got less and when you contact the Ionic people they want you to send the whole unit back at your expense and will try to repair also at your expense. Do not waste your money. I am currently trying a more extensive unit which is after just 1 week remarkable. My smoke odor is gone and so are the allergy symptoms. My friend just bought one too for her asthmatic special needs child and what a difference. I am not going to act to hasty on this one yet but so far so good. But please stay away from the Ionic Pro!!
