Introduction to Statistics and Data Analysis by Chris Olsen, Jay L. Devore, Roxy Peck (2004, Hardcover)

This is the text book of my son's high school. Just brought it to have a copy at home. The latest 3rd edition. A very good book on the subject.

If you ever need this class it sucks, if you have a bad teacher thats even worse, however, this is one of the very few textbooks that have actually helped me, so if worse comes to worse this book is readable and breaks things down very well. It explains things thoroughly in everyday language. The reason I give it an excellent is because its nott written for people with a PhD, the concepts are explained in everyday language.

I would recommend having a good instructor to go with this book. It's just a typical math book, written by mathematicians. It's confusing to read and not easy to figure things out on your own, by reading the book. The nice thing about it though, is that each chapter has a summary of the main points covered. This is helpful when studying for exams. If there's something in the summary that you don't understand, you can ask your instructor.
