Into The West (2005, DVD)

"Into the West" is comprised of 6 episodes, each following the two families from generation to generation. It hits on some of the important events that shaped the West and the ultimate fate of the Indians: The opening of the West to settlement by the mountain men; the wagon trains across the plains; the building of the transcontinental railroad; etc.
This movie best "finally" portrays the true story of the interaction of out Native Americans with the white settlement, which washes over their land and obliterates their culture. It also shows, in great detail, the tragic events which are too often whitewashed in our history. It does show that not everybody was sure that what was being done was the right thing to do. It seemed to happen fast, when it happened.
I believe that the Native American Indians today still do not get the service they deserve from America. Reservation living is not up to par and it should be addressed. From homes, food, lack of proper utilities, to education, these things still need to be addressed. To me the Native Indians are the most beautiful people on the earth.
