Into the Sun
Review created: 11/08/09(updated 11/10/09)

Since being shunned by Hollywood with the nasso disaster nipping
at this heels,Steven Seagal (Kill Switch, Pistol Whipped, Shadow
Man, etc) has had to go to a straight to dvd (no movie release)
type of movie. This is one of them made in 2004, and it is a fair
effort. In it CIA operative Travis Hunter (Seagal) gets the call
to investigate the assassination of Tokyo's governor. Raised by
the yakuza, Hunter is forced to reenter that perilous underworld
where he discovers a terrorist ring spearheaded by a yakuza leader
with ties to the Chinese Mafia. Major league fight scenes ensue
with a big finale full of fists and leg kicks. William Atherton
(The Last Samurai) co-stars with Seagal and Takao Osawa. Direct
to Video is hardly ever a good thing-and this one falls a bit short
also. Seagal does the directing on this one also, as he has on
many of his direct to dvd films. The audio is somewhat strained as
Seagal seems to struggle with his Japanese on occassion, but again
you are probably buying this movie for the fighting-and it does have
that to a plus. There are good points to this movie and bad points,
and I can not list them all, I rated this movie as average, but if
you love to watch Seagal - then it should be upped to Good. If you
like the fight scenes in Seagals movies it could be upped also. But
the plot is basic Seagal and his acting is a bit below par-average
on a 1 to 5 level. Some will like this one, others will not. If
you keep that in mind, the movie will give some a good nights enter-
tainment and others will wish they picked another movie for the evening.
