Interview with the Vampire (2000, DVD)

Movie Description
Horror author Anne Rice penned the screenplay for this full-blooded adaptation of her novel, which chronicles the life of 18th-century nobleman Louis (Brad Pitt) after he is bitten by powerful, charismatic vampire Lestat (Tom Cruise). Though enthralled with the undead lifestyle at first, Louis is unable to warm up to killing humans and grows despondent. To comfort Louis, Lestat creates another vampire (Kirsten Dunst in a star-making peformance), a young girl who from then on cannot age. Antonio Banderas appears as Armand, a 400-year-old vampire, and Christian Slater plays the radio producer who interviews the remorseful Louis.

Director Neil Jordan captures the lush decadence and erotic fervor of the novel, infusing the film with rich, dusky tones. The big budget is well used to bring each period and place to sharply detailed life, and there is no skimping on the blood or immortal angst. Thandie Newton has a small role as Louis's Creole servant near the beginning of the film, and Jordan regular Stephen Rea appears as a Parisian vampire theater star. INTERVIEW broke weekend box-office records when it premiered and has since earned a spot in the pantheon of great vampire films.

I really like this movie and it's hard to find elsewhere. I really like the old movies that nobody really watches anymore. I found this and it was a reasonable price and it was still brand new.

One of the best vampire movies of all time
    Review created: 06/09/08

I love this movie. The somber feel, the great score, the terrific acting, the over the top excellent costume designs...this movie is a great example of cinematic deliciousness.

All you wanted to know about a Vamp, but afraid to ask!
    Review created: 05/20/08(updated 05/20/08)

If you have read the book, believe me, it will be just as a great story as it was in the book, following right along with it. (So few are, this does not make the usual switch-a-roo's) For those who have not........Hold on to your, uh.....necks! A brilliant story created by Anne Rice brought to the screen. A must see for all Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Antonio Banderas, Christian Slater and Kirsten Dunst fans. You will follow along the storyline of one Vampires journey through the ages that interconnects with the lives and deaths of many other, humans and Vampires alike. Full of action, stunts, adventure, love, sorrow, and.....yes, pains in the neck. Are you ready to sit down and ask all those questions you always wanted to know from a vampire, but were afraid to ask. Well here's your chance without the fear.
