Instant Karma: The Amnesty International Campaign To Save Darfur (CD, Jun-2007, 2 Discs, Warner Bros. Records Record Label)

Deserves a 4.5 or near excellent rating. 1st of all, I love the basic music. John Lennon wrote meaningful, edgy music when he left the Beatles. And wrote from his heart. And a good compilation is difficult. You want the artists to cover the music in their own way, but not to lose the original content, including melody. The best covers, in my opinion were:
* Mother - Christina Aguilera
* Jealous Guy - Youssou N'Dour
* Working Class Hero - Green Day
* Real Love - Regina Spektor
* Beautiful Boy - Ben Harper
* Instant Karma - U2
* Gimme Some Truth - Jakob Dylan/Dhani Harrison

Absolute worst cover:
* Give Peace A Chance - Aerosmith/Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars

Especially enjoyed the interpretation of the music by Christine A, Regina S., U2 and Green Day. Other songs are so strong that about anyone could have covered them and they'd been fine.

This Cd Rocks. Buy it!! Great attempts at Jonh Lennon classics. Green Day has great version of Working Class Hero. Help Save Darfur.

Great all around cd.A great project and a great cause. Fantastic.I hope the Beatles fans pay attention and buy it.

Good mix of artists. I am not able to listen to the whole CD set in one sitting, but it is great for driving in car.

I love all of the groups and the songs on this collectors edition. Unfortunately, I was limited as to how much I paid for the item. The songs are great and the interpretation on John Lennon's songs, sung by others completely blowed me away. This is such a wonderful cause, and granted buying it through the seller did not give to Darfur. However, SHE did and I respect that and respect the fact she was able to pass it on to those of us after she uploaded it to her I-Pod. I am dealing with a son having Acute Lymphotic Leukemia and I suffer from Fibromyalgia and Sever Lyme Disease I would have given to the cause in Darfur but was unable to due to medical bills. 10+++++ Stars to her for being the person she is and for passing it on to those of us who believe in the cause but for personal reasons could not afford the item on our own. Many Blessings to her to share such a collectible and wonderful Item. You Go Gator Girl and thanks for what you did and what you have done to support the crisis rather than turn a blind eye to it!

I definitely prefer the artists on the 2nd disc, to the 1st disc. But, what a great album, overall! If you are a Beatles fan, you will love this album!

This CD is very good. I like to hear other artists perform legendary artist's music. The new versions give you a whole new outlook on the originals. In- fact some lyrics are easier to understand in these versions.
