In an Instant by Bob Woodruff, Lee Woodruff (2007, Hardcover)

This is a wonderful book and I have purchased it five times to give to people who have undergone major changes in their lives, either happy, sad, or both. Everyone loves the book! I liked it because it focuses on a relationship between two very different and imperfect people who make a life together and have to deal with a very unexpected tragedy and an uncertain future. It is told candidly, and they pull no punches about their feelings of anger, disappointment,and frustration before, during, and after the accident. I particularly liked the dialogue from Leigh since as girlfriend, wife, and mother, her job was to take care of their home and children, while Bob was off in the world doing very exciting things. Her strengths are revealed during that time, and particularly after the accident. Mothers whose husbands travel a lot will understand and relate. Any couple will appreciate the honesty of two imperfect people with different roles to fulfill, going through life's events together. It is one of the best books I have ever read, and they don't gloss over the events in any sugar-coated Pollyanna fashion.

This had to be one of THE most moving books I've read in a long long time. Filled with so much emotion that you just wanted to hug this whole family but especially Lee. Her writing (and of course Bob's) was touching and made me realize just how much strength we as women have inside of us.

I enjoy reading about true stories happening to real people (the good, the bad and the ugly!). I had read a portion of it in People magazine and eagerly awaited the arrival of the book.
This is a must read for anyone and especially motivating!

In an Instant is definitely worth reading. It was well written, presented so much information about what happened with celebrity Bob Woodruff in Iraq. I often wondered why journalists expose themselves to such danger, and now I know: He was drawn to the field as if by a magnet. The entire family must have missed him terribly whenever he took an assignment, but Lee, his wife, always seemed to support him. His inner strength and the Lord saw him through this horrifying situation! He can consider himself blessed!

This is one of the best books I have ever read. Very well written. Not at all depressing. A true miracle that Bob Woodruff was able to come back from his fate. I was unable to put this book down, and one I will never forget! Everyone should read this one!

I decided to buy this book after watching the news about Bob Woodruff. This book is very good and is hard to put down once you start reading it. You could almost feel like you are there with them as the family is going thru this ordeal. A very well written book.

I have not had the chance to read it yet, but I enjoy reading and was watching a show one morning with Lee Woodruff being interviewed and wanted to read it.
I don't read that many nonfiction books but there story was very compelling.

This is a great book...one everyone in the family can enjoy (although enjoy is not the best word since it is a scary reality of the war), but the writing is superb. Bob Woodruff is the journalists in this family...but his wife Lee is a great writer. You feel her joy, heartache, fears, worry, and love in every word. I am only glad I know the outcome of this story as I read along.

I bought this book as a gift for my 78 year old father. He doesn't often ask for specific titles, but really wanted to read this. The book was an excellent value, in perfect condition and priced well below the retail store price. Lastly, the shipping charges were very reasonable, as this seller charged a fair and decent price for that service. The very best part was being able to put a smile on my Dad's face!

Great book about the enduring love between a husband and wife. Made me cry a few times. I loved that Lee was honest about her feelings when all the recovery was going on, was open and honest. Bob and Lee have a wonderful marriage that seems to keep getting stronger.

I had seen a review of this book and thought it looked interesting. It was SO well written and I loved how it was written showing the views from both Bob and Lee. It is truely a love story in how dedicated they were to each other and their relationship. Truely an inspiration.
