Synopsis Both lovers of books and reading, 11-year-old Meggie and her bookbinder father, Mo, enter the fight of their lives with evil villains who were originally characters in a book called INKHEART. Ensnared by Capricorn and his menacing gang, including the exceedingly cruel Basta, Meggie must not only free herself and her father, but also find her mother, who disappeared years ago. The character Mo was inspired by the appreciation of Cornelia Funke, the author, for the actor Brendan Fraser's work. The bestsellers THE THIEF LORD and DRAGON RIDER were also written by Funke, and this entrancing title is followed by a sequel, INKSPELL.
Twelve-year-old Meggie learns that her father, who repairs and binds books for a living, can "read" fictional characters to life when one of those characters abducts them and tries to force him into service.
