The Information [CD & DVD] by Beck (CD, Oct-2006, Interscope Records USA)

i haven't listened to Beck in a long time, but this release had me pointing and clicking til it arrived at my doorstep.
I generally don't consider myself a fan, but i have to say it is a genuinely gorgeous, cool, and crafty set of songs.
Soft and lonely at times, funky and uber electronic at others, it never fails to satisfy.
Songs like "Think I'm In Love" and "New Round" will inadvertantly (maybe?) pull at your heartstrings, while the sounds of "Nausea" and "No Complaints" will transport you to Becks early days, in the best way possible.
Theres a definite 80's throwback element as well..."Cellphone's Dead" is a delicious post-80's nodder that will turn heads as you groove your way to work.
Despite my hefty labeling, the songs in general turn out to be an awesome collection of truly modern kickass music. i could say its a massive collage of pop/rock/postmodern/electronic/spoken word, but that would be saying too much and not saying enough at the same time.
There are a couple of songs that don't exactly merit this much gusto, but i am genuinely impressed with this album and recommend it 100% to lovers and haters alike.

Just when I had completely given up on Beck he comes up with this gem. Beck is the king of quirky, funky, whattheheckisit type of stuff but he has a tendency to lose me. There are a couple albums (Guero, for example) where every song is like fingernails on a chalkboard. With The Information he hits the nail on the head everytime and creates a masterpiece filled with strangeness done to perfection. This is the Beck I know and love. It's great to have him back. 5 Stars.

Beck is such an original funky guy, you can always expect something unique sounding from him. I was not dissapointed with his latest CD at all.

Had to add this to my Beck collection. It's a great CD, and comes with a DVD. The DVD is a nice bonus, but each video starts to look like the one before...still funny though. If you like Beck, this won't disappoint you.

I love this cd, maybe im bias because i enjoy almost all of becks albums. If you are a beck fan you will not be disappointed. He is true to his collage of musical styles. This ones a keeper!
