The Incredibles (DVD, 2005, Widescreen)

The Incredibles", while maybe not as hilarious as I had hoped (though it's still very funny), is nonetheless an extremely entertaining movie, that manages to charm you wit its combination of great characters, lots of style, tongue-in-cheek attitude and good message. Highly recommended

The storytellers and annimators at Pixar studies have produced yet another classic. This time the superheros from your childhood are back to save the world one more time. Those in mid-life can definately identify with the main characters of this movie who feel like their better days are behind them. But of course it isn't so as they back into the action as much as ever.

HITS: Beautiful computer graphics, well written story, comedic elements, musical score.

MISSES: Tugs less at your heart than other Pixar films and instead appeals at your adventurous side instead.

PARENTAL WARNING: For those with small children, unlike earlier Pixar films this is rated PG. With that comes some scenes where children are put in danger as well as some graphic explosions. I would recommend children be at least 5 - 7 years old.

The special features alone make purchasing this DVD worthwhile. You get to see the other opening scene to the movie that the producers considered. You get to see alternative scenes -- voice over from the director as to why certain scenes were included over others.

The alternative opening scene really added more depth to Holly Hunter's character. You see her at a neighborhood barbecue -- where a snobby woman looks down on her because she is "just a housewife." Yet, we know that she's Plastic Girl and saved the world for so many years. As a woman, I really related to this scene. Only on the DVD do we even get a chance to get to know Plastic Girl more.

Buy the DVD -- makes a great gift -- not only for kids but also for adults. When you get bored of it, sell it on eBay.

Trust me, the special features alone make this DVD worth every penny!

The Incredibles is a wonderful movie for school-age kids. There are some scary parts, but my kids did fine being reassured that everything would end up ok.

There are a couple of messages for kids that I really like in this movie. One, the teenage girl, learns to find her power and use it, and this makes her less "invisible." She learns to feel comfortable in her own skin.

Two, the young boy, Dash, learns to harness his power, which gives him more options. (He can compete on the track team now!)

There are many movies available that are aimed at kids, but this one is particularly enjoyable, thrilling and empowering.

This movie did not get the marketing or fanfare that it deserved ... somebody must have been asleep at the wheel on this one. It's a wonderful movie with amazing visual quality and a great storyline. I hope that a sequel is in the works! This movie is perfect for all ages, especially adults (who are kids at heart).

The Incredibles is such a great childrens movie and fun for the adults as well! The movie is about a family of superheroes who fall into a situation where they need to save the world from an evil ex-superhero fan. The animation is beautiful and detailed. The Incredibles is action filled and funny! Don't miss out.

I love super heros, and the incredibles, while having the appearance of what may be a parody, turns out to be a seriously funny AND fun animated movie that your whole family will enjoy!!! I thought this movie was a bust. I had an extremely hard time sitting through the whole movie. It was very slow moving. It had such media build up i assumed it would be another awesome disney film. Boy was this bad, sorry disney, maybe next time.

This movie is hilarious. I don't have kids, but I bought it anyway. Jack Jack's short was the funniest thing I have seen in a while.

Remember the preview of him not being able to fit in his outfit? That scene is not even in the movie. But the special features definately make up for it.

Every one knows what the story line is about. Why give away the details, then you won't need to see it :-P

Its another Pixar Classic. Its great for older children, and absolutely Adults (Given they have a funny bone). If you have children, you would have to decide if they are mature enough. Its a superhero movie. There's fighting, blowing up, & very clean adult content.

My kids loved this movie, and still watch it quite a bit! They are 4 and 7 and love to pretend that they are "Supers". We got this when it first came out, and they are still in love with this movie! Great investment!

Personally this one was just OK. It got alot of hype in the theatres but it wasn't spectacular. Kids loved it though. But for adults, I would say this isn't all that great. I'm not a huge cartoon fan, but I loved Shrek and this is no Shrek. I loved Nemo and this is no Nemo. Cute storyline but definetly a renter unless you have kids. In which case, I think its a great movie for kids. Basically about a family of ex-superheros. The dad is going through a mid-life crisis sort of and is looking for work. Eventually, it ends up getting him in trouble and his family goes out to save him.

The Pixar magic has certainly blessed the film industry for families and adults alike. Even though I thought this movie was a bit too long and more mature than most children can appreciate, we find out that this 1 hour and 55 minute film allows the adults to watch something different, teenagers to stay with the family longer than usual, and small ones to be astounded by spectacular advances in cartoon magic.

The story is one of frustration when the incredible family duo get transferred out of the hero business.

Stay tuned until the very end. You will not be let down.

I'll give this a 4/5 since I really liked it but was a bit too long to hold my attention all the way through anytime soon.

Disney Pixar, as usual, did another outstanding job. The Incredibles appeals to both adults and children and is a very funny movie. There is nothing overly scary for children - no monsters or ghoulish characters, which is always good.
Perhaps one of the best features of the DVD is a short film featuring baby Jack, Jack. It shows what happens when he is left in the care of the babysitter, while his mom and siblings are out saving dad.
I would definately recommend adding this movie to your Disney library.

The Incredibles makes a great movie investment because all of the elements work together to make a great movie to watch over and over again. Developed characters add a richness to the film, which moves quickly. The explaination of why Superheroes went underground flows swiftly yet makes sense even to children. The adult situations of Bob Parr unhappiness is understood as well--without being too therapy-like. The unique abilities of the Parr family are cool and work well on the screen. When Mrs. Parr gets caught in Syndrome's lab, it is tense but humorous. The villian isn't too scary, as some Disney films--he's more of a dorky bad guy. Adults and children can enjoy this film together.

I must say, when I saw the previews for this movie, I did not have any interest in seeing it. In fact, it didn't even catch the attention of my two children. But, when it was bought for my kids as as Christmas present, we finally gave it a shot.

This is was "better then expected" movie which any child 5 & up would love. And, there is alot of humor that just the adults would understand so it's entertaining for us as well.

The movie follows a family where mom & dad are retired super heros. And their children (expect for one) also have super hero powers.

The were forced into hiding but are coming back out to make a difference.

This is a "for all" movie & you will not be disappointed! This is a must buy & a must see.

Hey, even those of you without kids should treat yourself to this one!!!!

Ever wonder what happens when super heroes retire? Well wonder no more, because the great minds at Pixar have struck again with a movie that is fun for the whole family and very entertaining. The action is great in this movie and visually incredible. I don't know anyone who hasn't loved this movie after they watched it.

As with all Pixar movies, the additional features on the DVD are great and really add to the experience. This 2 Disc collectors edition is great. The first disc is the Theatrical Widescreen of the movie adn has the filmmaker's audio commentary available. The second disc has the added "Jack-Jack Attack" featurette which is funny entertaining and funny. The short Boundin' is also included which was nominated for an Academy Award and of course those very funny bloopers adn blunders. There are deleted scenes and and alternate opening, top secret files on the supers, and a behind the scenes look.

A must have for any family.

This movie is just not for kids but the whole family as well. It has adult humor which the younger kids do not understand which makes it really funny.
Animation is awesome and the movie is well worth the buy to a great family collection.

This is another cartoon that I have sat through many times. I do like this movie and will watch it with the kids. It has enough adult humor to also keep the adults interested!

bought this because the other dvd we had had been watched alot and was no longer able to play, my kids LOVE this movie and I would highly recommend it to anyone lots of action and adventure as well as lots of family oriented material included in this move A MUST SEE for all ages

I love the movie but I thought I would get a better deal on it. It did save me a trip to Wal Mart but I work there so that was no big deal. At first I couldn't find it at Wal Mart but then right after I bought this I found it for like 40 cents more than I bought it for on here. I thought that was not bad. But then I didnt receive the movie for at least 2 weeks after I sent my payment so I was disappointed. But the movie was in great shape and played fine. So I was satisfied. Saved me 40 cents in the long run.

My kids are mad crazy for this movie (20 mos. & 3 1/2 yrs).
They must watch it at home when eating and in the minivan.
Bought this DVD as a filler with another one. Not familiar with this and never thought this would gererate such attention. My son wants to be Dash and fight bad guys.
