In the Kitchen...In MY Kitchen

Pros: Delicious and nutritious recipes
Cons: Hard to find ingredients
In short, Oprah hired Rosie, a health nut, as her personal chef and here you have it: In the Kitchen with Rosie. We all obviously have different tastes, and by now many of you have learned that what I consider delicious and easy, you may consider very difficult and not worth the effort. I fear nothing in the kitchen (except a fire) and enjoy trying out an ingredient I have never heard of. We shall not deprive our tastes buds. There are millions of recipes in this world, and I refuse to miss out on them. This cookbook was a gift and one I probably would not have purchased on my own. However, I.

It may make great spa food, but ...

Pros: Tasty (but complicated) low fat dishes
Cons: Impractical for routine use, expensive ingredients
This cookbook was given to me as gift when it was published in 1994. However, that implies that someone else was caught up in the hype and I was merely an innocent bystander. I confess. I wanted the book because I had heard about it. (Living in the Chicago area, it is impossible **not** to hear about something related to Oprah). The Concept This cookbook was written by Rosie Daley, personal chef to Oprah Winfrey. At the time of her discovery, Rosie was chef for a health spa/fat farm/boot camp. Oprah came for a visit, loved the cooking, and took Rosie home with her. (Do you have any idea how...

Pros: good cooking hints, excellent recipe for unfried chicken
Cons: not normal every day food......
When I bought this book..In The Kitchen With Rosie....I bought it mainly to see if it gave me any new low fat recipes. What I found was alot of lowfat recipes.....50 of them infact. It was made interesting by the comments added by Oprah Winfrey and how this food compared to fried and other high fat foods. Rosie Daley is a chef that Oprah Winfrey met at a spa where Oprah was trying "again" to lose weight and get fit. The food that was served at the spa was delicious and to make a long story short....Oprah hired Rosie to be her chef. Oh that we all had such a possibility.......then maybe we...

A Little too Gourmet-ish, for everyday cooking.

Pros: low fat, low salt, low sugar
Cons: most recipes not practical for everyday
I really thought I was buying a great resource for my kitchen when I bought "In the Kitchen with Rosie", which contains some of Oprah's favorite recipes. I can only say there is one recipe that really fits into my cooking, that I would make again....Unfried French Fries. The book begins with an introduction by Oprah, and she explains how she found Rosie. While visiting a spa, (you know how she from time to time gets very health conscious), she was impressed by the chef who could make such low-cal meals. Her name was Rosie. Of course, Oprah enticed her to come and cook for her in her home. She.

Not in My Kitchen

Pros: For accomplished cooks
Cons: For accomplished cooks
Rosie is a chef which explains why I found this book useless to me. The recipes for main courses are full of many ingredients that are not common to most kitchens. I bought some of the spices and other seasonings and spent a lot of money for things I never used again. Other ingredients were not in the super market. There are few pictures so you cannot see how the finished dishes should look. Two recipes I did like were Roasted Mustard Potatoes (p. 101) and Steamed Vegetable Platter (p. 102-3). I did not like the Un-Fried French Fries that people were raving about when the book first came out..
