GRIPPING TELEVISION SERIES

I watched "In Treatment" through Netflix and was so absorbed in it that I bought the series on eBay and watched it straight through again over the course of a few nights. As a retired clinical psychologist, I thought the unfolding of the clients' stories over the course of the psychotherapy sessions rang true. The psychologist's own therapy with a former supervisor was the best part of the series for me; he intellectualizes with the best of them and is just as hostile and defensive as any of his own clients are during their sessions. Of course many clients would not be so articulate or have such dramatic issues and pasts, and some of the situations depicted would not occur in treatment without the therapist losing his license to practice, but the acting was uniformly great and the plots always interesting. Who would have thought that watching therapy sessions could be riveting? As television drama, this series is one of the best that I have ever seen. Highly recommended!
