Importance of Being Earnest (DVD, 2002)

Bought for my daughter for Christmas. Have not opened it yet. Am happy it arrived so soon and was unopened.

This movie has it all: a super multi-talented cast; gorgeous on-location setting; hilarious comedy; charming plot, thanks to the wit of playwrite Oscar Wilde, & a great screenplay...AND...! COLIN FIRTH!! Handsome beyond compare, charming as ever, & with an understated sex appeal, in all comes shining through, even in a comedic format.

Rupert Everett is handsome, as well, & though these 2 actors don't get along with one another, we are lucky, that they have agreed to be co-stars, in several films. Both are extremely talented actors, & are very professional.

Southern girl,Reese Witherspoon, delivered a nice English accent, though not as good as Texan Renee Zellweger did, in the "Bridget Jones" movies, nor as good as North Carolinia girl, Jennifer Ehle did, in "Pride and Prejudice," but I'll give her an "E," for effort.

LOVED the horses & carriages, the period costumes & hairstyles, the furnishings in the homes, most especially, the music rooms, the tea sets, & the libraries. Was very impressed, with Colin Firth's ability to sing, & play the guitar, in this film, & look forward to the his other films, where he sings.

I recommend this movie for all age groups, & for students of English Literature.

I bought it because fo Colin Firth. It was not his best but i still liked it i will watch it again with friends

I love the movie. So witty. An excellent addition to my DVD collection. Would recommend this movie to anyone.

This is a lovely screen adaptation of a stage play. The cast is well chosen and their performances are spot-on for their characters. It would make an excellent supplement to any school lesson on Oscar Wilde's literature.

A cute Brit film, great stars and great performances, funny comical dialog, worth a watch. Classic tale remade well. MR

It was packaged well and my friend liked it.
She will give it to me to watch at a later date.

I've read and seen this play performed dozens of times (former English teacher), and I didn't think there was much about it that anyone could show me, but I was wrong. This production is fresh and inventive and Oscar would have loved it.
