The Imperial Bells of China by Dance Ensemble (Cassette, Oct-1991, Fortuna)

Originally having seen the beautifully staged live show, I chose to purchase the CD and was pleased to find that it has good recording quality and a selection of lovely and varied pieces including a haunting flute piece and numerous interesting melodies of Chinese derivation. While the music can not be termed perfectly traditional because it was created to make best use of the unearthed treasure that is the set of Imperial Bells long after the original music was lost, they have done an excellent job of recreating music which is harmonious with the instruments.
