A How To Book for Writing Poetry
I bought this book because it has good explanations of what the elements of poetry are. I liked it so much, I ordered another one to my daughter-in-law, who wants to know what free verse is and how to write poetry. I love how it covers all the elements poets use and gives short specific examples of poems that are clear enough for say middle school children to understand. However, it doesn't cover very much about closed form, just an example of a sonnet and a haiku. It's probably meant for "younger poets" since it includes lots of cartoon-like illustrations, but it's a wonderful "how to" book about poetry for any age group.
