Synopsis
IMAGININGS is a collection of 10 fantasy and science fiction stories linked only by their length. They're all novelettes, i.e., between 8,000 and 15,000 words. There are stories by veterans like Harry Turtledove: his "Next Year in Jerusalem" posits a near-future Israel run entirely by the triumphant Palestinians. There are also works by relative newcomers: e.g. Aaron Rosenberg's "Inescapable Justice," about a superhero who can't quit saving the world, as much as he desperately wants to. Adam-Troy Castro's story, "Of a Sweet Slow Dance in the Wake of Temporary Dogs," in which the inhabitants of a city experience ineffable joy nine days out of every 10 and unimaginable pain and tragedy every 10th, is a 2003 Nebula nominee.
