A very well thought out book! Informative
Images of Organizations by Gareth Morgan is a required textbook for my Masters program at the University of Calgary.
This soft covered book is well written and hits the mark for what it is supposed to do. Morgan introduces the basics around how organizations are formed. Then you move through different versions of organizations through-out history:
Organizations as:
Machines, Organisms, Brains, Cultures, Political Systems, Psychic Prisons, Transformation, and Domination.
After you have looked at the different theories you go forth and look at the limitations of placing a metaphor on organizations.
I found the book interesting and I did the most reading out of my 10 grad courses from this book.
