Editorial Reviews
3 Stars - Good - ...amounts to a case study in how much she can get out of her luscious and straightforward vocal gifts within a dance-pop framework...refines two of her signature styles: state-of-the-art dance pop and baroque ballads...
Rolling Stone (01/10/1991)

3 Stars - Good - ...Listen to more than a few bars of this album's opening hit-single track and you swiftly begin to appreciate the absolute and utter professionalism which has been at the heart of Whitney Houston's success...

...She comes within striking distance of classic saloon soul here and proves she's stepping up to fast company...

Whitney + Pre-Mariah Era = Unlimited Vocal Talent
    Review created: 11/11/00

    Pros:
Duet with Stevie Wonder, wonderful love songs and ballads, great dance songs,

    Cons:
some may call the music dated because of the use of a synthesizer

That is right, I am making the declarative statement that Whitney Houston lost her talent, the same night Mariah Carey lost her marriage. I grew up listening to Whitney Houston, and loved her music videos, especially "I wanna Dance with Somebody". As I grew older, I realized I really appreciated Whitney's vocal talent. She got game...but then lost it. Once Mariah Carey felt the need to end her marriage and end her days as being a talented musician...so did Whitney Houston, and ever since both have gone down hill, in my opinion. Yet, the golden days of Whitney Houston are still very much alive.

Whitney Goes Street On This R&B Slanted Studio Album - Her Third For Arista Records
    Review created: 09/18/06
by: ianphillips -- a member of Epinions

    Pros:
The rip-roaring title track and some other notably excellent tracks

    Cons:
A few of the recordings sound dated, others too slushy

Before her fall from grace following her much publicised decline into crack cocaine addiction, Whitney Houston unbeleavably had a goody-two shoes image when she pumped out her first pair of Pop/R
