The Most Beautiful Voice this Side of Heaven!

Frances Langford (1913-2005) was a beautiful singer/actress from the 30's to the mid 50's
This CD is a collection of performances from various radio shows for the military during the war years. Military personnel voted for their favorite celebrities to appear on these shows. Frances was a regular. She was extremely popular with the GI's having gone on USO tours with Bob Hope all over the world.
This CD is set up like a typical program. Selection 1 has an introduction of Frances as mistress of ceremonies. Some selections have Frances introducing the song. Others have her doing some banter with other stars, Bob Hope included. The last selection "Symphony" has her closing a show, and saying in her charming way, "s'long fella's!" The program starts with a lovely version of "At Last" in a relaxed charming way. Next is a great rendition of "You Made Me Love You", the best I've ever heard. Number 3 is a heart rending version of "You'll Never Know" Number 4 is a duet with Bing Crosby of "These Foolish Things" the harmony is gorgeous. Number 5 is a very sultry, gorgeous rendition of her signature song "I'm in the Mood for Love" Number 6 is a terrific rendition of a song by David Rose "Our Waltz" Number 7 is a delightful peppy performance of "There goes that Song Again" Number 8 is just an unbelievable beautiful version of "Sleigh Ride in July" Frances voice just soars like an experienced surfer over these waves of sound! Number 9 is a soft cuddly version of the classic "Night and Day" Number 10 is a bravura performance of a song called "Symphony" Frances makes it sound like a tone poem. My only complaint with this disc is it only contains ten songs. Ok, I'm greedy. Twenty wouldn't be enough! The sound ranges from good to excellent. Frances did so many of these shows, I'm sure there is enough material for several more discs.
For more information on Frances Langford, I have written a fantasy time travel romance novel about her called "Will I Ever Know" in which a fan of hers in the present day time travels back to 1945 to meet her. Many stars of the period appear in it as well as several of the 30 movies she made. Get this CD! Once you experience Frances Langford she will remain forever in your heart!
