I'm Just Here for the Food by Alton Brown (2002, Hardcover, Illustrated)

I know little to nothing about how to cook. I really appreciate this book because it doesn't make any assumptions about how much cooking expertise you already have. It starts from the very simplest of beginnings and takes you step by step through the process.

Another important feature is that AB teaches you WHY things work the way they do. This is not only helpful for the recipe or procedure I'm learning at the moment but it's given me more confidence in other cooking areas because I know what's happening and whether it's supposed to happen like that.

I would highly recommend this book.

This guy knows his stuff.....he knows the chemistry behind what he does. I love to watch his tv show even though it can be quite monotonous. I like the way he explains what is going on with the food while it is in the process of being prepared. He makes it look so easy !!!!

I love people who don't take themselves or their area of expertise too seriously and Alton fits the bill. He also has some great tips and recipes. Would recommend to others as a secondary addition to their cookbook collection.

Alton Brown is the best. He gives you the science behind how each cooking method so that you understand how it works and how to apply across settings and mediums. His "best baked potato ever" is truly the best. I have bought this book so far for two birthday gifts for family members and I don't intend to stop until every one has a copy!

Alton Brown doesn't just give out recipes, he teaches you the science of cooking, in a simple, matter-of-fact, and entertaining way that makes sense and that makes cooking fun and fool-proof.

Watch AB on TV all the time. Bought the second book to the series first. Knew that I would enjoy this book also.

Good Book, Great Ebayer, no complaints! It was a gift for a member of the family who loved the show and low loves this book. It arrived in good condition in sufficient time.

This book is true to his television show (which we don't miss). Husband received this from me as a gift and he loves it. Nothing bad about it at all. :)
