THE WHITE STRIPES will rock your world with ICKY THUMP, the most sonically bombastic album the band has made. While revealing the band's roots in American folk music, Icky Thump is an explosive, revolutionary assault that brings together garage rock, every blues style of the past 100 years, nouveau flamenco, Jack White's fastest guitar solo ever recorded, hard country, speed metal, a slide guitar epic, surf music, spoken word and even bagpipes to create a modern rock & roll masterpiece.

TRACK LISTING:
1. Icky Thump
2. You Don't Know What Love Is (You Don't Do As You're Told)
3. 300 M.P.H. Torrential Outpour Blues
4. Conquest
5. Bone Broke
6. Prickly Thorn, But Sweetly Worn
7. St. Andrew (This Battle Is In The Air)
8. Little Cream Soda
9. Rag And Bone
10. I'm Slowly Turning Into You
11. Martyr For My Love For You, A
12. Catch Hell Blues
13. Effect And Cause

An all around good album. Some songs are ok and some drag. It has a couple great songs like Conquest and rags and bones. If you are a fan of Jack White or his other bands this is a cd to get

  Little Cream Soda
Review created: 10/22/08

If you were to put Led Zeppelin, Sonic Youth, and Arlo Guthrie into a blender you might end up with something like Icky Thump. This is the White Stripes just letting go and having a blast. By the end of my first listen my face was frozen with a huge smile on it. Highly recommended. 4 Stars.

My first extended experience with the Whites and I have been banging the Icky for days now. Some tracks are a bit less magnetic but overall... its a great project.

Iggy Thump - why to buy
Review created: 02/12/08

White Stripes' decide to relax their recording process a little, and the music doesn't suffer! Great licks from the duo, once again pounding out bass and drums in a hard to label style. Are they Alternative? Blues? Rock?, I say sometimes yes to all, but they constantly experiment.
Their albums get better and better the more you listen, first you get a thrill hearing your favorites, maybe you've heard one or two on the radio. Then the more you listen the more songs become your favorites, until the whole album is your favorite.
I say well done, even without the dedication to old school recording.

  Rucker girl rocks

Love all the guitar work on the album. Conquest makes me feel good. I'm not into doing the Tango but this song makes me want to just and give it a try. Of course the Icky thump has that hard driving rock sounds like what I grew up on.

Prickly thorn has a nice chant about it and great instrumentals. The album on the whole has a wide varity of music and this is one reason that I enjoy this group.

  Icky Thump- The White Stripes
Review created: 01/03/08

Love this CD. Love the White Stripes.Introduced to them by my teenage daughter. This is one thing that we agree on.The music & lyrics are top quality. The White Stripes are a band in a million. They prove that you can produce marketable music w/o screaming or profanity or lessons in depravity.Kudos to Jack & Meg.Keep em' coming.

Guaranteed To Please The Palate; Best White Stripes Yet
Review created: 10/05/07

This is the best White Stripes album yet. I would never had thought that they would be able to keep their little two piece garageband gimick going for this long. But they have, and they always seem to reinvent themselves. It may be the same dish of meat and potatoes, but on every album so far the dishes are seasoned differently. Icky Thump is the Stripes' filet mignon served with gourmet scalloped potatoes. Their best flavor yet. Guaranteed to please the palate.By the way, I wouldn't use the term gimick in the same text with the White Stripes again.

I'm a big White Stripes fan, so I'm a little prejudiced. I like everything about this CD. They didn't disappoint me.

  The future of music
Review created: 08/21/07

The White Stripes continue to push the boundries of modern music with this excellent albumn of eccletic tunes. The title track Icky Thump uses what sounds like an 80's Casio keyboard and the great guitar work of that we have come to expect from Jack White. Glad to hear the future.

although not a fanatic, I do have all of the WS releases and I can say this is the best to date. Great driving drum beats from Meg and steller guitars from Jack.
