IMAX - Everest (DVD, 1999, Special Edition)

After watching the discovery channel's Everest series a few months ago I wanted to see more of the drama that is Everest. This film did not come close, some of the footage is simply "faked", shot on a different mountain. I would not recommend it- it was not what I hoped for. The footage is clean, sharp, good sound, well produced. Just not "authentic" enough for me- I wanted the realistic point of view that I enjoyed on the discovery series.

I bought this movie for my wife, she's an Everest freak, and she liked it. I know she's watched it a few times since I gave it to her. She reads a lot of Everest-related books as well and she thought the movie did justice to information she has read. Definately a worthwhile purchase for the Everest enthusiast.

This "movie" was a real let down. It was very short aprox.(45min). After reading the book,(Into thin air) this movie was basicaly worthless. It didn't have any details or identify with any of the climbers. Narration was poor,music was weak. The photography & camera work was great, but not worth the money or time spent on this movie.

I had read a couple of books about the Everest disaster where six climbers died on the mountain. The IMAX crew was on the mountain at the same time and helped out where they could, jeopardizing their film. Included in the extra footage is a fabulous interview with a climber, Beck Weathers, that nearly froze to death. He is a doctor, very articulate and very, very insightful.

I bought the DVD to actually see Everest, up close and personal. Every year, people pay a lot of money ($65k+)and endanger their personal safety, to try to go to the top of the world. Why is it so important? Watch the interview with Beck Weathers.

It was great I loved the movie and I think it was one of the best made! This movie shows that there are people that can overcome anything.

I'VE WANTED THIS DVD FOR YEARS. IT WAS THE FIRST THING I EVER SEEN AT A IMAX THEATRE IN DENVER AND IT WAS SUPERB! WATCHING IT ON THE TV ISN'T QUITE THE SAME BUT IT'S STILL A VERY WELL MADE DOCUMENTARY.

I liked this documentary becaus it was so real and filmed the entire climb to the top of Everest which hasn't been done that often. I decided to buy this documentary because I find anything about Mt. Everest is very interesting.

I bought this product because I like movies about mountaineering and climbing etc. Arrived as promised thanks.

Superbly made, with breathtaking photography, great companion to "Into Thin Air." While the film doesn't discuss the controversies surrounding the deaths on the mountain that season, it gives a visual reference to the difficulties climbing such an increadible mountain.

This was an excellent film which I had seen years ago in an IMAX theatre. I am a huge fan of this type of adventure and it was great to be able to see this film in my home. The colors are incredible as the quality of the film is excellent. If you have ever read the book "Into Thin Air" this is an great film to go along with it.

While it isn't exactly like seeing a film on an IMAX screen this is still very enjoyable on the new high definition TV's.
