Album Notes Personnel: Viktor Krauss; Dean Parks, Lyle Lovett, Matt Chamberlain, Shawn Colvin, Shweta Jhaveri, Ben Taylor, Bill Frisell. Bassist Viktor Krauss has made himself indispensable as a sideman to the likes of Lyle Lovett, Bill Frisell, and the Chieftains, and released his solo debut, FAR FROM ENOUGH, in 2004. Like its predecessor, II is highly eclectic, bringing together film music, country, jazz, blues, and rock in a lush sonic package. "Hop," a moody, guitar-driven dream, draws the listener into the album, and features contributions from Bill Frisell, Shawn Colvin (who sings on Krauss's cover of Pink Floyd's "Shine On You Crazy Diamond"), and Indian singer Shweta Jhaveri. II is a sure bet for anyone interested in creative, beautifully constructed music not tied to genre conventions.
Editorial Reviews Krauss and his small ensemble craft jazz-tinged soundscape-ish arrangements weighted with substance. No Depression
