Combining R&B, jazz, hip-hop, blues and folk into a smartly packaged debut, Cherokee shows the world her skills as a singer, songwriter, musician and producer. I LOVE YOU...ME is an interesting album that takes the listener on a dynamic musical journey. Throughout this 11-song debut, Cherokee offers songs that sound like they've been ripped from her soul for the sake of telling a story to the listener. You'll hear influences from '60s and '70s soul to modern hip-hop--check out the piano work of the legendary Billy Preston on "My Queen." A bold lyricist, Cherokee takes an unflinching look at the notion of her own death on "While I'm Flyin'." Other tunes deserving of a close listen are "Oopsy Daisy," "Misty" and the jazzy "Blue Bottle Afta Shave." Reviews This is my favorite cd. I love the jazzy bluesy melodies. Some of the lyrics are mischeviously clever. My absolute favorite tracks are #5-10! I have a four (4) track minimum "like" requirement before I purchase a cd. This cd more than feels that requirement. It's inspiring, uplifting, encouraging and has that "girl power" mentality. Steppin Stone is a great break up song. My Own Queen fills you with so much self-love and self-esteem you feel like you can rule the world by yourself. Fictitiously is an incredible song if you're still waiting on Mr. Right. You won't get bored with this cd. This is a must have cd for your collection!
