Hymns to the Silence by Van Morrison (CD, Sep-1991, 2 Discs, Polydor USA)

Man if you like Van Morrison and love faith based music, this is the stuff for you. He is his awesome self and I love to hear his faith come through in his music. This is a hard one to find, so good luck to those that are trying to complete their Van Morrison collection.

There's no such thing as bad Van Morrison. Album to album, he's about as consistent as you get. "Hymns to the Silence" is a tough to find, currently (2-7-08) out of print double CD set. Many Van Morrison CD's are being re-issued at this time, but I've not seen any plan to make "Hymns" available.

The music on these CD's cover a lot of the styles that Van Morrison has explored over the years. It's not confined to any one approach. If anything, you might be able to say that this is a bit towards the more mellow side of Van Morrison...these are songs that deal with spirituality for the most part, but that aspect doesn't smack you over the head, though I suppose it does lend itself to a more gentle presentation. If you like Van Morrison, you can't go wrong here. Be ready for this to be fairly pricey since it's not easy to find.

If you enjoy George Ivan's radio played tunes, this may not be a recording for you.
However, if you love George Ivan's music and need more of it, buy this recording. It is certainly one of his best.
Period.

this is one of the hardest cds to find but one of the best to listen to the second disk is mostly hymns but the number one reason i purchased this CD was for song #2 on disk 1. well watching vans show he played not feeling it and i had to find the cd it was on i did and bought it

Well who could do a better job! No one! This cd rocks and since I have so many of his cd,s I do not know how I missed this one.. worth looking into for your own collection. I love it!!
