Husqvarna 455 20" Chain Saw

i used many other saw brands as I have owned a sawmill and cut timber professionally for years. this small saw 455 was just a trim saw but i can cut trees with it like a big saw. you just cannot lay back on it like a 2100 that has 8 HP but it will cut very big trees like 30 inches. i soupEd mine up and changed from 3/8 chain to .325 chain with the .325 it cuts about twice as fast. Husqvarna charged me $45 JUST for the .325 sprocket because it has to be a one piece to change over not 2 piece and the sprocket wears out quick like in 2 chains. I plan to cut 200 rick of firewood and trim 200 tree tops with the saw then sell it. I have 6 husqvarna saws, I am 60 years old and drop trees on them alot and get new saws. I think i lost 2 saws in 2008 to the tree monster. So this is a cool cheap saw for a home owner or even a professional but i is plastic not metal housings so you have be comservative abit in use. I have two 455 and a 359 and two 257 and two 2100 husqvarna saws. And a 285.

For the average homeowner, this saw is OK, but for someone used to a professional Husqvarna XP model saw, the 455 Rancher is somewhat slow-revving, heavy and has a significantly lower power-to-weight ratio. The new 460 Rancher model is way better than the 455, or for about the same money the Stihl MS290 is a step up. In roughly the same price range as the 455 Rancher is the Husqvarna 353, which has a similar power output but revs (and cuts) faster and is noticeably lighter. Beware the "refurbished" Rancher models being sold on Ebay, you might get a saw that was originally factory refurbished and then used by a second party, and THEN resold to you, making it no better or possibly even worse than an average used saw.

This saw sells for 399.00 +tax at lowes,they also handle the warranty issues and they have spare parts in stock.So get it cheaper at ebay,use lowes warranty or get spare parts at youre local lowes.I have talked to guys that handle a chainsaw on a regular bases,for hire,they love this brand.I was going to get a poulan again but you have to special order parts at least I haven`t been able to get parts over any counters at a store.I ended up paying 270.00 for a 20" husqvarna
w free shipping a 18" poulan w 1 year warranty was around 160 at lows + tax so 90 bucks more for a saw that will have the rest of my life

the price was great i like the weight of the saw it cuts great the packing was great i burn fire wood i get a lot of use out of this saw

I have had more than a couple of saws in the past. This saw is comfortable to use and has lots of power for even the tougher jobs.

I used an old model 77 Husqvarna for many years and this saw is just as good for home use. I would recommend throwing those Poulans and Homelites in the trash can and get a real saw. Excellant saw for the money.
