I decided to buy this book because I so enjoy Lisa's daily newsletter. It is filled with recipes, food product reviews and how to make correct choices to eat lightly in today's fast-food world. I love her recipes that use small PORTIONS of mixes/convience foods to make only one or two servings!! This method of cooking is truly portion-controlled and does limits the amount a person consumes in a day!
I will probably use a few of her recipes but, I doubt that my husband and father-in-law would enjoy many of Lisa's recipes. The cookbook is well produced and has many great ideas for people younger than us. We just don't eat much processed food.
Otherwise, I highly recommend Lisa's newsletter and cookbook. She is a dynamic and energetic young woman.
WHAT AN EXCELLENT BOOK!! Excellent recipes. This book even has a cocktail recipes chapter. How great is that. Not only are the recipes interesting, but they also are easy to make. You must read chapter 14 - the Survival Chapter. A lot of excellent information in this chapter. This book offers survival tips for chinese food, italian food survival guide, office survival guide, reel deal movies survival guide. These guides offer tips on how to deal and survive certain situation. I strongly recommend this book and think everyone should own one.
I really like this book a lot. I am a naturally curvey girl but if I don't watch my weight I can cross that line from curvey to fat. This book is imformative and has lots of ideas. The aurthor has a loves of figure friendly recipes and lots of tips from eating out to snaking at the office.
I purchased this cookbook on a recommendation from a fellow Weight Loss Surgery friend. Every recipe is simple and most ingredients I have on hand. Love that it gives you the Weight Watcher Points value. I have tried about 2/3 of the recipes and have not been dissatisfied with any of them. Those that are not WLS friendly can be adapted.
I saw an article in a People magazine about the book and website. I had tryed the recipe in the people magazine and it was great! My kids even ate them. So I knew I should order the book.
The book was brand new. And much cheaper than at the bookstores. And I didn't have to drive anywhere to get it. I was shipped very fast, Icouldn't believe how fast I got it.
I am every happy with the book. I haven't made anything out of it yet, but have got great tips, from the tip section. I am eating better, so thats all that matters!
a really good and simple to understand book.lots of great recipes.the recipes use common and easy to find ingredients, are easy to assemble and, cook and really taste fantastic.my whole family likes the food and we have a really great and fulfilling meal that we can all feel good about.
Heard about this cookbook in the Weight Watchers community boards. I like it.
Most of the recipes are for one, so it's great for a dieter. (usually the whole family isn't on a diet, and also if you don't like a particular recipe, you don't have a lot of leftovers).
I've tried 2 recipes so far, and they're both very good. A tuna wrap made with ff mayo (and I usually hate ff mayo) and a taco salad.
I bought this book because I love Hungry Girl's style of writing in her daily emails and knew I'd get a kick out of her first attempt at a book. Great recipes with easy-to-find ingredients makes this cookbook perfect for a single gal or small family.
I was thrilled with this book - the recipes, tips and ideas are wonderful for those of us who are doing WW and are exhausted of ideas. The recipes are simple, inventive and delicious!! I go to this book as a resource time and again! You don't need any other book, this is IT!
I love this cookbook. It is written and presented in a manner thats easy to understand. I love the 'tips and how tos'. I've made the dreamy fudge recipe that calls for a can of pure pumpkin and brownie mix and it is awesome! I just made it with 4 ripe bananas (in place of the pumpkin) and that it good too! I only wish there were more photos. Maybe, one for each way the recipe is supposed to look when its finished... I would strongly recommend this healthy, and fun cookbook!
This is an excellent book for anyone trying to eat well, lose weight, and still enjoy many old favorites as well as try new recipes. Lisa Lillien is obviously serious about health and weight loss. I especially like that it is very Weight Watcher friendly. She developed some of the recipes in conjunction with WW, and provides all the WW points values for each recipe on her book website. I highly recommend this book, even if you have other diet cookbooks. There are many unique recipes, hints, and also ways of substituting ingredients to make lower fat/calorie versions of popular foods.
I absolutely love this book! My family and I have recently started eating healthier, so this book has helped us tremendously! I especially love the low fat desserts! The hungrygirl.com website is also extremely hopeful. The recipes in this book are easy to follow, and for the most part simple to make, and better yet, they taste delicious! I HIGHLY recommend this cookbook!
I bought this book after a friend of mine made fudge from this book, which tasted so good! So far I've made 2 recipes, and they were excellent. All of the recipes are relatively easy and taste great. The writer replaces fat with things like apple sauce or she uses fat free ingredients. You will get lots of tips and great ideas from this book. I highly recommend it and you should def. try the fudge and muffins recipe. I'm looking forward to making and trying new things.
This book has so many amazing LOW calorie recipes ideas! I triple love the "Survival Guides". This book is a must have for anyone trying to make healthier choices day to day.
I have been subscribing to the Hungry-girl website for a few months and really enjoyed the recipes she had listed. When I realized she had a book with even more recipes, I was thrilled. I love that this book lists so many easy and healthy recipes. I gave this book to my aunt who is on Weight Watchers and she was happy that she could track her points with these simple recipes. This book is definitely on trend with the new no diet diet, which is what I'm doing to manage my weight. With these recipes, you can still watch your weight without feeling deprived of your favorite foods and drinks, especially coffee drinks.
I really liked this book because it had a lot of good ideas. BUT it also has a lot of tofu and things like that which I have not tried and am not really eager to try (although I did buy some this week and it better be good-hahaha). So some of the recipes don't have "real" food but lots of "substitutions".
This book was rec'd in excellent, brand new condition, just as described. The cost of the book at a buy-it-now & also the shipping charges were very reasonable.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Hungry Girl cook book. It is the perfect companion to help calm the cravings for things that are pretty bad for you. I bought this on the recommendation of my Weight Watchers group and am SSOO glad that I was paying attention when they were discussing it. My only complaint is that it should be twice as big--I'm hoping for another edition!!!
This was a great cook book. I love it. It is good for single people counting calories. Everyone watching their weight should read this book and keep it close at hand.
I receive hungry girl emails every morning and I love that I have access to all the recipes in my own kitchen! The recipes are simple and most are very quick. I can eat the foods I love with less guilt now!!! Awesome book!!!
This cookbook is one of the best I have ever bought. There are so many recipes that are for the things I like to eat. There are somethings that I don't care for but I just skip over and get to the "good stuff". I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for ways to eat healthy and still enjoy the food.
