Humphrey Bogart Signature Collection Vol. 2 - GREAT!

I usually stay away from "sets" in favor of buying only those movies I want, because so many sets have inferior "filler" material that you often never want to see again. So, I was simply going to buy the new collector 3-disk issue of "The Maltese Falcon," which for any Bogart fan is a MUST BUY. But for just a few dollars more (thanks Ebay!), I opted for this set, which has an additional four movies. After all, it's Bogie we're talking about! The four other films are vintage WWII themes, in which Bogart is teamed again with many of the superb "usual suspects," including Syndey Greenstreet, Peter Lorre, Conrad Veidt, Mary Astor, and Claude Rains.
"Action in the North Atlantic" (1943) is one of Warner Brother's best wartime action/adventure films. "Across the Pacific" (1942) is a really enjoyable comedy/drama espionage film directed by John Huston (who also directed "Falcon"). "Passage to Marseille" (1944) was WB's attempt after the huge success of "Casablanca" to give Bogie a similar role; it's a good movie even if not the caliber of the former. "All Through the Night" (1942) is a wonderful comedy; it's fun, even if outrageous.
The point is, ALL of these movies are rewarding to watch and the bonus features are a nice, too. Since you're going to get "Falcon" anyway (every film collection should have "Falcon" and "Casablanca"), go ahead and spring the extra dollars and get this set. It's well worth it. The transfers are excellent; you'll watch them again and again.
