) This book was required for a humanities course I took, and I like it. It has quick snapshots of various works that make up the classical era. Some are familiar, and some, while I may have heard of them, were not. It doesn't go into the meat of any one author or figure, but I don't think it was meant to. I was interested enough to read even some portions that were not assigned in class.
