Household Hints and Handy Tips (1988)

Hello,
My name is Lori Doupe, and I originally purchased this book when it first came out in 1988. Hubby and I owned a Hobby Farm, we had 2 children, a girl and a boy, both not yet school age. We grew Pork, Beef, Chickens, Turkeys, Geese & Ducks for ourselves & for family & friends only as we both had to work as well until our little Farm became well known in the area we lived in. We Sold Eggs, and fresh Jersey Milk from our Cow for, uh hum 'Petfood' back then as it was illegal to sell it for human consumption. We Pasteurized it ourselves, drank it, made my own butter with the kitchen Mixer, Ice Cream w fresh fruit, we grew all our own vegetables, fruits & berries as this little old farm was well established and 80 years old. We also raised and handled several Newfoundland Dogs, some ours, and some for friends. I made my own dog food from the recipe in the Household Hints Book, and a supplement for both our dogs and cats, which very surprisingly took the odor completely out of cat feces and urine, which was a bonus not revealed in this book! I added a few extra herbs to it, and I sold it to co-workers with cats & it just ballooned from there. I lost my treasured copy of this book, when we moved several years ago, and I lost the recipes for making my household cleaners, dog food, cat food, flea killer shampoo made with castile soap and herbs, & before we knew it, we only went to the grocery store for paper goods, kitty litter w/o additives & Barry asked me to see if I could find my organic treasure trove of recipes from this incredible book with too many useful items to mention. You name it, I found it in that book. Household Cleaners, Window Cleaner, ingredients that should never be combined, etc, was all in that book. My biggest regret in life, was the sale of our Hobby Farm. I would buy it again in a heartbeat if it ever comes up for sale again. It was the happiest and healthiest years of our lives. Our Children loved growing up there and now adults they miss it too. Now we rescue dogs and cats, we never have more than 2 xl breed dogs at a time, and I am thrilled to have found this book as I forgot how much a fresh deposit in the litter box can turn your stomache even with a box of baking soda in it, granted the odor does not hang in the air for long, however it's much easier to deal with during the daily 'scoop' if there's no odor at all! It's not embarrasing should Kitty go into the litter box room when you have visitors for Tea! I can hardly wait to get my hands on this book once again! It's got tips, tricks, & remedies for every household related item you can think of and then some! The flea soap is gentle & kills fleas on contact! It does not harm kitty's or puppy's either!
I'm delighted!!
Peace, Love & Laughter,
Lori, the dog lady.
