I GIVE IT AN AVERAGE ONLY BECAUSE I HAVE EVER HORROR FILM MADE AND THE ENDING, BUT DO NOT TAKE THAT WRONG, IT IS A GREAT MOVIE, I LOVE THE RIDE SCENE, AND ALL THE SCARY PARTS IN THE HOUSE, SOME WILL REALLY FREAK YOU OUT! AND DR. COVANICAN EWWWWWWW, SCARY, THE FACE THEY THROUGH IN THE SCENES FREAKKKKY! BUT THE ENDING WAS WEIRD! NOT SCARY, KIND OF CORNY, BUT, NEVER THE LESS, THE REST IS GREAT!!! IF YOU LOVE HORRORS, AND HAVE NOT SEEN, BUY, BUT FIND THE CHEAPEST PRICE!

I bought this movie because I had seen it numerous amounts of time on television and had never got to watch the whole movie. Plus, the price was great. I love horror and action films and this was a combination of the two. It was also a mystery type of movie. I loved the most of intenseness. I don't really like all the bad language. However, over all it was a great movie.

This makes me think twice as to wether or not I would take someone up on a dare to stay in a haunted house for a night no matter how much money was involved!
I remember jumping a couple of times during this one!

At first, everyone is having fun, thinking that the whole thing is a joke. But once the entire house automatically seals itself shut, they realize that this is no joke.

This is definitely a must-see for any horror fan. Maybe not the best but certainly not the worst. Still manages to put me on the edge of my seat at some scenes. Not the most accomplished horror movie but it still comes with a story to keep everyone interested. It holds its own in comparison to the other Ghost Castle films. So if you liked movies such as Fear Dot Com, 13 Ghosts, or Gothika this is something you would most likely be interested in. So bottom line if your looking for complexity this may not be your ideal choice but if you're looking for a good edge-of-your-seat horror movie this is it.
Not to be confused with the low budget "scary movies" out there, its well made and worth a look. I know thats something I always worry about with the genre.

This is a horror movie that keeps you captived since you really don't know the whole story or how it is going or what direction it is taking. exceptional movie about a family home that in prior years was a hospital of sorts and the plot that took place. this is one of the better horror movies that has a lot to offer. i recommend this movie to all that like horror and wan to see how it plays out.

THIS IS A MOVIE THAT WILL KEEP YOU GUESSING UNTIL THE END. I DID NOT LIKE SOME OF THE GRAPHICS IN IT OTHER THAN THAT IT WAS A GREAT MOVIE, AND I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE SEQUEL TO IT.

This movie was super scary with a HUGE CREEPY FACTOR- - the 1st time (and only the first time) I watched it. There are a lot of scenes that hold unexpected twists that really made me JUMP. However, after the first viewing I was able to anticipate the "make you jump" scenes and what is left is a very mediocre delivery of what could have been an AWESOME plot, with not so great acting and an ending that leaves A LOT to be desired.

Evelyn Price, wife of amusement park owner, Vincent Price, is spoiled and filthy rich. Ever seeking to impress, shock and outdo her friends she insists that Vincent throw her birthday party at a hospital for the mentally insane that was shut down years before when it was discovered that the head doctor was performing experiments on and torturing the patients. She saw a documentary about the facility on TV. She has an elaborate "haunted" party in mind and even provides Vincent with her desired guest list. But what Mrs. Price wants, is not what Mrs. Price gets... Instead invitations are sent to only a handful of people, who appear to be strangers daring them to spend the night in the "haunted" facility with a prize of 1 million dollars for whoever makes it through the night. What makes this movie fun is that you never know what "tricks" Vincent has staged for the party goers, what Evelyn is staging to get back at Vincent for the lousy party... (she wants him dead so she can have his money, by the way...) and what is "really happening."

It's definitely worth watching once. But probably not more than once...

this movie rocks hard from beginning to end it is nonstop action and geoffry rush is soo awesome as is the rest of the cast the movie and house are creepy

I had a friend that loved Taye Diggs, so I decided to purchase this movie thinking she would enjoy it. Little did I know she doesn't like horror movies the way I do so......she watched it and then gave it back to me.I referred her to some other taye Diggs movies she will soon purchase.

Cool special effects, and a creepy house-Glossy film editing and a neat idea; based (loosely) on an original flick starring Vincent Price.
The background sets are GREAT!!! The make-up and scary scene-work is rather cool!!!

The special fx in this movie are top-notch! Extremely well done remake of an old movie... casting is A+ too!!

This is a modern day remake of the classic "House on Haunted Hill" from back in 1959 which starred the legendary Vincent Price. The old movie seems primitive by today's standards but still ranks right up there with the best of them.

This newer version follows a similar story line but is quite different in location, guest invitees and rationale. I found it quite good. Technically they made very few gaffs [There are always a few. What can I say! None were outright stupid.] The suspense is good. Keeps you guessing. Props are good.

All in all, the movie could really have happened. To make a "horror" movie realistic is a challenge. And when it is realistic it is great. The new twists and themes are well done. This is not a simple blood and guts movie where half the cast gets chopped up one way or the other. Yes, they die, but not by the hands of a crazy guy with a chain saw. More sophisticated than that.

If you like suspense and a bit of horror sprinkled in you will like this one.

I love ohhh oooohhh scary movies and this one is a very well done not too gory classic scary movie. It came case and all from a very customer oriented seller. I love watching all types of movies and this seller had many different types and offered a very good rate on shipping for multiple purchases. The shipping was super fast and they all arrived safely (a few of the cases were cracked in route but no damage to the dvd at all). Great Seller with Super prices (much less expensive than driving to the store to sift through thousands of them to find the one you want). Many thanks to this seller.

I wanted the dvd because I was already buying the Return to house & I wanted to see the begining.I like the movie,Very entertaining.

Seller has never contacted me regarding shipment of DVD purchased on 01/23/08, though have written to him 3 times and still not received item as of 03/11/08. Will not work with this seller again, and from review read, no one else should either, as this is not the first time this has happened. Ebay should ban this seller from further selling of items, since he clearly makes no effort to send out merchandise.

keeps you on the edge of your seat and keeps you wondering. i was told by my sister this was an excellent movie and she wanted to also see the 2nd part.

In reading my fellow reviewers opinions I am wondering if they watched the same movie I did. The only reason I rated it a 1 is because there is no lower grade. "In-a-nut-shell" this movie is a DOG!!! The only reason I purchased it is because the original shooting with Vincent Price was awesome! If you have seen the original don't bother. Save your money and purchase a lawn rake. You will get more for your money.

The Reason i Give this movie a two instead of a 3 is because of the last scene where the last man standing screams i was addopted and then suddenly escapes from the clenches of the hounted Spirits. the Escaped couple also Miraculausly get a 5 million dollar bonus. Which they could of gotten just by telling the story of a hounted house.

As for me i would watch any hounted house movie ever created. There is Just something cool about the way people bond in a huge creepy house. This movie had a really creepy feel to it and it was Scary with incredible scenes. However the plot went into to many different directions. First The Wife Price Tries to savely kill her husband at the house. The Husband on the other hand tries to play a trick on his wife. And on top of all that the house is Really haunted.

good the first time you watch it. but then it kind of loses some of it's scay freakiness to it after every other time you watch it. it's a good movie bt like i said before it loses after every time watched.

I had never seen this movie; but it looked great on the commercials for it! I think it is awesome and money well spent! The seller gave me a great deal! This dvd was in Top shape when I got it so that was good!

I would recommend this one to anyone who likes spooky, edge-of-your-seat kind of movies.
