| Movie Description HOUSE OF FLYING DAGGERS: director Zhang Yimou (JU DOU, RAISE THE RED LANTERN) tells an intricately detailed love story in the swordfighting epic HOUSE OF FLYING DAGGERS, set during the final days of the Tang Dynasty. A mysterious group called the Flying Daggers is a dangerous threat to the government, so police captain Leo (Andy Lau) sends his right-hand man, Jin (Takeshi Kaneshiro), undercover to try to find the rebels' location. Jin, a notorious playboy, pretends he is a roving warrior called "Wind" and befriends Mei (Ziyi Zhang), a blind dancer who is believed to be the daughter of the former leader of the Daggers. As he leads her across the countryside, they are "attacked" by government soldiers--but these battles are staged by Leo in order to convince Mei that Jin is on her side. But when a general orders that Mei must be captured at any cost, the fighting turns real, and Jin must decide between his loyalty to his job and his growing love for Mei. Meanwhile, Mei battles her feelings for Jin as well, trying to hide her true self. CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON: Based on a novel by Wang Du Lu, Ang Lee's martial arts epic starts with the revenge plot common in the wuxia stories that Lee loved as a child, then adds a feminist twist. Li Mu Bai (Chow Yun Fat) is a legendary martial artist who has decided to pass on his sword, the Green Destiny, to a friend. Soon afterward, the sword is stolen by a masked female, setting in motion events that test the bonds of family, love, duty, and sisterhood. Chow appears with three generations of female stars: Cheng Pei Pei, a 1960s action heroine; Michelle Yeoh, the beauty queen turned 1980s action goddess; and newcomer Zhang Ziyi, who smolders as the princess who wants more than domestic tranquillity. Famed action choreographer Yuen Woo-Ping (THE MATRIX) stages jaw-dropping zero-G fights across rooftops, rivers, and bamboo trees, while Yo-Yo Ma punctuates the fisticuffs with dramatic cello solos.

We bought these movies because of the martial arts theme - but loved them for the epic love stories. These movies have something for everyone - drama, love, action, adventure... These movies will have you glued to your seat. They are the favorite movies of my family. We watch them over and over again. Don't be afraid to try these movies - you'll love them. Both of the movies are epic battles of good vs. bad. The stunt work and scenery in both movies is wonderful. The most fantastic scenes are in the bamboo forest. Unfortunately, both movies have a poignant end that will leave you crying. House of Flying Daggers is about a group called the Flying Daggers who oppose the current rulers in the land. The blind daughter of the old leader is placed in a pleasure house and is used by the rulers to locate in Flying Daggers. Surprises abound in this film. Crouching Tiger and Hidden Dragon is a two point story - the love story and the epic battle for the sword called the Green Destiny. The twists and turns of this movie will amaze you.
