Here, he shares the knowledge he has collected over the years with students just picking up the acoustic guitar, presenting the basics in an easy-to-follow, comprehensive way. This tutorial is virtually overflowing with information to put students well on their way to mastery, covering how to hold and tune the guitar, as well as the different chords, strum patterns, scales, song rhythms, and finger picking techniques that will help students find their own sound. Backing bass and drum tracks are also provided for practicing and honing the skills Kevin imparts.

    Great video. I had other beginner dvd's prior to this one, but never followed through with them. For a starter video, this one was the best of all that I saw. With the video, you get a membership to a website that has a great, great forum where you get a ton of help from other (more experienced) players. There are backing tracks that you can download to play along with after you learn a couple chords. That was a huge help. It really kept it exciting. I also bought a follow up to this called "learn acoustic rock-intermediate", which is put out by the same company (The Rock House Method). I didn't see near as much progress with the follow up dvd as I did with the beginner. So, I'd suggest looking elsewhere for an intermediate dvd.
