House: Season Two (DVD, 2006, 6-Disc Set; Anamorphic Widescreen)

After ER, Chicago Hope, and dozens of other medical dramas, how many really good stories could be left? Turns out, quite a few if done in the right way with an excellent cast. House M.D. breathes new life into the hospital drama by adding a dash of CSI type sleuthing with a stellar cast, led by Hugh Laurie as Dr. Gregory House and also starring Lisa Edelstein, Omar Epps, Jennifer Morrison, Jesse Spencer, and Robert Sean Leonard.

Dr. Gregory House is an incredibly unusual doctor. He dislikes patients, is partially crippled by a muscular disorder, pops Vicodin like they are tic-tacs, and is addicted to reruns of General Hospital. He would rather read a medical journal or hide out in the OB/GYN lounge than deal with a patient. His true purpose in life is leading a team of young doctors in diagnosing the usually rare and fatal maladies that baffle most doctors. Here House is part Sherlock Holmes and part Gil Grissom. He assembles the puzzle, often failing to get the pieces right, until finally the solution is arrived at. In the meantime he runs rampant across the hospital, badgering or simply bullying his way into getting what he needs to try and help the patient. His bedside manner is not pleasant, in fact House is a jerk because being a jerk is the fastest way to get patients healthy.

Season 2 started off a bit slow overall as a subplot about House and his ex-girlfriend Stacy (Sela Ward) takes up too much screen time, but once she departs the season picks up dramatically. There is quite a bit of character growth for the staff: Dr. Cameron (Jennifer Morrison) still holds a bit of a torch for House but moves on to other and more risky things, Dr. Chase (Jesse Spencer) has difficulty dealing with the death of his father and still doubts his own abilities at times, and Dr. Foreman (Omar Epps) discovers that he is willing to step on others to ensure his own success, and that sometimes tragedy strikes closest to home. Dr. Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein) and Dr. Wilson (Robert Sean Leonard) get some great screen time, becoming more three-dimensional and much more interesting, and we learn quite a deal more about House and the skeletons in his closet that make him tick.

The 2nd season set contains 24 episodes, with the best coming towards the end of the season, several featurettes, and at least one commentary according to the tvshowsondvd guys. Top episodes include Sex Kills, All In, Sleeping Dogs Lie, House vs God, and the brilliant two-parter Euphoria, which showcases some phenomenal acting by Epps, Morrison, and Laurie. The writing is particularly fresh, original, and inspired, and the cast seems to thrive on the energy. Some of the incredible guest stars include LL Cool J, Ron Livingston(Office Space), Alanna Ubach(Legally Blonde), Cynthia Nixon(SATC), Greg Grunberg(Alias), Samantha Mathis(Pump up the Volume), Michelle Trachtenberg(Buffy), Elias Koteas(Traffic), Charles S. Dutton(Threshold), Michelle Clunie(Queer as Folk), and D.B Sweeney(The Cutting Edge). Improving on a great rookie season is difficult, but House M.D. succeeds brilliantly. Pick up your copy today. HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE THIS SERIES, OR THIS PIL POPING DOCTOR WHO BREAKS EVERY RULE OF MEDICINE AND THROWS IN SOME DARK HUMOR IN EACH SHOW. HES AN ODDBALL FOR SURE BUT WE CAN'THELP BUT WATCH BECAUSE WEHAVETO KNOW WHAT HES GOING TO DO NEXT. HE'S OBNOXIOUS AND GRUMPY AND JUST A PAIN IN THE A$$ BUT WE LOVE HIM AND THIS SHOW. ITS A KEEPER AND PEOPLE ARE ALREADY WANTINGTO BORROW GRRRRR

Dr. House is a nephrologist and a diagnostician with a team that includes a neurologist, a rheumatologist and a cardiologist. Together they tackle the cases that stump the other doctors. Each episode of the program is devoted to one case - with some very few exceptions in which two cases become linked. This "cleanness" is one reason that House is so successful in the medical genre. It is also the most authentic and realistic and accurate medical show on television - not that it is always completely perfectly accurate but that's another issue. House himself is an immensely likeable multi-dimensional character - for an unlikeable miserable curmudgeon that is. He doesn't care about the patients but about solving their mysteries. But maybe he does really care. And sometimes his ethics appal. This show is best when it isn't burdened with too much hospital politics. Of course Cuddy has to be all over House. But last season when an administrator was out to get him, it lost some interest. Great show, television really doesn't get any better.

Hi. This is a pretty good show. I just finished this season and I have to say it is excellent. House is sarcastic as ever. His leg hurts more and he is as miserable as always. Foreman, Chase and Cameron deal with it of course. Wilson moves in with House for a while and the season finale is confusing and kind of intense. This is a great show and you have to at least watch it on T.V if you're not sure if you want to buy it, although it would be a good idea to buy the first season before you buy this, but what I like about it is you really don't have to see every episode because all that would happen is the characters will say little remarks about things that happened before that episode. Anyways, this is a great show and I will continue watching it.

I loved that I was able to purchase an entire season of one of my favorite shows for such an inexpensive price!

The stories are great, the characters are amazing, and the combination of the two is outstanding!

I'm a dedicated fan of the series House! Season Two is every bit as interesting as Season One! Each series is very well put together, leaving you on the edge of your couch at times. Each character is growing, and establishing their place on the 'diagnostics team' and with House, himself.
House is still his (cute)witty, sarcastic and at times, meddling self. We get to see a sensitive side of him, as well. The 'House-isms' are great this season!
Again, I made the purchase since re-runs are rare in my area. I like to be able to pop in a DVD and have approx. four hours of entertainment, COMMERCIAL FREE!

The mystery of disease along with the frailty of human character...what more can one ask. I love this series!

I dont know about you but too me it seems like this past few years medical shows got an extra boost. E.R. a long running series on NBC seemed like it was going down the drain, and no one watched since it just got too confusing.
But for me there are only two good quality medical/drama's left grey's anatomy and House. House is just a show that is so interesting. and it is partially because of the character of house, the lead doctor, is so bizarre. House is not the normal doctor he tries to get to the point when the patient is about to just die on the ground but then how figures out he cure and makes the patient better. The formula of the all the episodes follows this rutine and can get quite boring but its the characters and bizarre diseases that keep you coming in for more.
An overall good show not alot of sex and stuff like that, as in Grey's Anatomy, but more of a show that you might be able to let your kids watch if over the age of fifth grade.

This is a really great show. It is very creative, and Hugh Laurie is an amazing actor. House is moving as well as extremely funny. Season two was another great season of a great show! This DVD edition is excellently packaged, with interesting extras. I highly recommend it!

I loved the first season of House so I decided to continue my movie collection with the second season.

I love the drama of this show. It is captavating and I can't get enough. Just when you think things are going in 1 direction, they go in another. The actors are great and put on a great performance. The writing is sooo clever and shocking. Must see!!!!

I love this series!! House is a super intelligent, narcissitic ass. And that's why I love him. Not to mention the dynamic he has with his coworkers. But you always have to wonder where are his redeeming factors other than he is an excellent doctor for him to deserve such good friends. It's great watching this show to watch the relationships unfold.

Great dvd would reccomend it to anyone who loves the house series. Great quality and price. Has alot of extra interviews with the actors.

This is classic House. Always entertaining and informative!! It is wonderful not to have to see commercials, and seeing it for a second time or a tenth time is a great way to spend an evening. we decided to do a marathon starring House.So we went online and obtained Season two. It is a six disc set and it is hours of fun TV. We are collecting all the seasons and buying through ebay has made it possible for us to do so. A must for House fans.

Hands down my favorite TV show!!!! I recommend it to anyone and everyone, especially if you like sarcastic witty humor. Hugh Laurie is to die for and one of the most gorgeous old guys around. It is a must buy and I love it!
