House is clever writing with a fresh story line at least in the Christian fiction genere. I don't keep up with the millions of non-Christian fiction books that are released, so I can not say if it is completely original. I can say that it is not quite like any thing that I've read (or rather listened to) before. Ted Dekker's writing style definitely is unmistakeable in mirroring similarities of his other books. It is chocked full of suspense, a little bit crazy here and there. It is well worth the time and money. The narration in the audio format is great. Never a dull moment. This is great entertainment for Christians and non-Christians alike. Stephen King fans should love it just as much as Holy Rollers.

WARNING A FEW SPOILERS: A couple are on there way to marriage counseling with their relationship on the brink of divorce when they are stranded on a no named back road in the middle of nowhere. The only house around is a seemingly deserted old house that appears to be an inn. This is where they begin the night of terror that ends in both disaster and redemption.

Thrill ride with House by Frank Peretti and Ded Dekke

My husband and I recently finished listening to our Audio CD of House. It was full of twist, turns, and thrills. While not either of author's best work, it was certainly worth the time to listen to it. My husband rarely has time to read, so I purchase a lot of books on audio CD for us to listen to on trips. It is a wonderful way for us to enjoy something together, and make the hours on the road fly by.

If you are a fan of Dekker or Peretti, I highly recommend you check out House. You will not be disappointed. And from what I understand the movie is hitting the big screen later in 2007.

Though not Peretti or Dekkers best, this book was a great read. It had a fast moving story, with some surprises along the way. If you are either a Peretti or a Ted Dekker fan, it is definately worth adding this one to your collection.

House by Frank Perretti and Ted Dekker

I like anything written by Ted Dekker so I was curious about his collaboration with Frank Perretti on this book. Characterization is well done. In fact, I found myself thinking ahead as to what each major character represented. The four main characters find themselves stranded in the boondocks of Alabama and come upon an inn. After "checking in," they find that there is no "checking out" from the haunted house. They meet other strange occupants throughout the night as they play "the game" that stretches them to the limits. I won't give away the ending, but it was clear that this story is an allegory. If you know Christian themes, you will recognize the theme of redemption in the ending.
