Hostel is a hybrid of a soft core porn (this unrated version) and a generic special effects film. The storyboard is extremely strong and if executed properly (i.e. improved special effects, cast, setting, etc.) it could have been a masterpiece.

I saw this movie in theaters and loved it!! I also rented it and that version had even more features! I would highly recommend this movie to anyone that loves thrillers, action, and lots of gore!

Hostel was a great. This movie had a believable plot and plenty of gore. The beginning was somewhat slow to build but it was worth the wait. I hate horror movies where the lead is stupid and deserves to bite it...not the case in Hostel.
For true horror fans, this movie takes you to the edge. The killer is not some inbred freak, but respectable business men willing to bid top dollar to torture innocent travelers. I felt as if I had lost some form of innocence after watching Hostel. There are scenes that are too gruesome for me watch without squirming in my seat. Overall I recommend this movie to anyone looking for a good scare.

This movie is really all about the pain. How real can they make torture look? Pretty realistic. Most people will cover their eyes with their hands and sneak a peek through the cracks just in case they might miss something. I'm sure people don't really act like this in other countries but this film may discourage travel for some. The idea of the film is sick and twisted and will offend or disturb a great many people. I suggest you should at least watch it once to see how you may react but I can't recommend a purchase. This is just one of those shock horror films that test your stomach's capabilities.

Skip this one, it should be filed under comedy.
If you are going to market a flick as extreemly gory and graphic, then spend less money on other things and hire some great sfx make-up artists.
The gory scenes could have easily been done with silly putty and a bottle of ketchup.
Q.T. better watch what he puts his name on a little more carefully.

) Wow. This movie was crazy, like ok, I totally expected it to be gory because Quentin Tarantino's movies are always at least a little gory. But this movie takes the cake. If you are into movies that totally make you shiver <like me> then this is a movie for you! I absolutely love this effed up effin movie! Rock on b!tches! This movie is guaranteed to make you say: "WTF!?!?!?" Because it takes the most intriguing scenario, and twists it all the effin way to the end. Everything you think that you can predict, it just doesn't end up the way you think that it is.
